Shortening booster gap after covid (teen)

Hello

I was wondering if anyone knows the rationale for the 12 week gap after having covid? (It was extended from 4) My teen had it 10 weeks ago and I’m thinking if he got vaccinated now he would have antibodies by the start of next term.

I asked at the vaccination centre and they said they couldn’t ‘officially’ recommend it but I’m still not clear why. They will shorten it if clinically vulnerable and surely if you had asymptomatic covid you might not know anyway? Is there a real risk or is it just a policy decision with no science to back it up?
