Just this really. No idea how Wales plan to move forward. They've said end of January for boosters up till now

I saw somewhere this morning that there were going to be more resources (I'm assuming vaccines) distributed to the other nations of the UK - so hopefully boosters will be able to speed up here as well as in England. I think the limitation to date has been the number of vaccine doses that Wales has been allocated.

I have to say even though it means waiting I prefer that we get sent an appointment rather than having to go to a walk in given the distance to travel.

I wonder if they'll break up schools early? Or give councils the option to do so. Not ideal, but I bet a lot of people are pulling kids out of school because they don't want them to catch covid & have to isolate over christmas.

Anglesey Council switching to blended learning for last 3 days of term.

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 13/12/2021 15:20

Anglesey council moving to blended learning for next week. Gwynedd have announced that they will continue as normal.

Rumour seems to be that Drakeford will announce restrictions on indoor mixing.

Fucking deja vu.

the80sweregreat · 13/12/2021 15:28

You know it's very grim when Mark comes out !

beardeddragon174 · 13/12/2021 15:29

Selfishly I hope not much changes. My son will have a second birthday with no celebrations (his birthday is 20th Dec). Grim.

Sadik · 13/12/2021 15:46

My guess (I hope!) is no restrictions on indoor mixing today, but a warning that it may come next week depending on how things progress.

justasking111 · 13/12/2021 15:56

Schools here breaking up on 22nd Conwy . Friends in England on 17th. So there's some leeway there. As for indoor mixing we're all triple jabbed or double jabbed and have had covid.

Frankly they may as well throw in the towel

Denbigh schools switching to online as well

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 13/12/2021 16:56

I wouldn't expect any big changes today as they announced weekly reviews. It'll probably just be reiterating the booster message? I've got mine this week but I can't imagine how they're going to get everyone done in 3 weeks.

justasking111 · 13/12/2021 18:01

Drakeford speaking at 7pm

Can't see everyone jabbed by the end got December

Not had anything from schools here in cardiff yet. My dd so excited about the last week / day of term.

pompomsgalore · 13/12/2021 18:42

Our school has had all their fun days last week, I imagine in preparation for last week changes and last minute closures or absences.

Gassylady · 13/12/2021 18:56

Our local HB will have to triple weekly number of vaccinations to meet an end of December target. Just don’t see how that is possible with sickness rates etc

Filterphobia · 13/12/2021 19:08

Wrexham are also moving to online learning from Friday. I’m in Flintshire and it’s not been confirmed here yet. This feels like a complete and utter repeat of what happened this time last year! 😫

ChristmasCatBells · 13/12/2021 19:12

It really does feel like last year. They all started closing early one by one.

I'm Flintshire too, I fucking hope to fucking God the schools don't close.
Nahhh · 13/12/2021 19:16

When do Flintshire break up? Cheshire finishes on Friday but I’ve seen Wrexham was meant to be the 22nd and is now the 17th.

22nd.

I've always been a bit Hmm about it actually happening though.

Last year they said schools would have two weeks of online learning in January. My kids didn't go back until February and March.

Sadik · 13/12/2021 19:19

Message as far as I can see is just speeding up the roll out of boosters for the moment? I hope they stick with appointments and we don't go to a free-for-all like in England (especially since my 26 weeks is up anyway next Thursday!)

Filterphobia · 13/12/2021 19:20

It’s 22nd in Flintshire as well, well it’s supposed to be. 🤷🏼‍♀️
I work in a school but I would much prefer to stay open than have to do online learning and key worker provision!

Levithian · 13/12/2021 19:26

We're meant to close on the 22nd too, I'm hoping they'll shut on Friday. We've had covid and it was grim, I really don't want it again over Christmas.

NoFitStateMum · 13/12/2021 19:57

Have heard of at least two Cardiff secondaries that are closing later this week.
Here we go again....
