Will people still get PCRs after 15th December?...

... so as not to risk being in isolation over Christmas?... Or will significant numbers keep it to themselves?

Obviously the responsible and "right" thing to do would be to get a PCR, but if, say, I came down with symptoms on, say, 15th, and I was visiting young, fit and fully vaccinated relatives on 25th, I'd be tempted not to and visit anyway if I was otherwise well (obviously with the relatives knowledge). My infectivity by day 10 would likely be very low, and the risk even if i wasn't would probably be something worth taking.

I'm fully aware this wouldn't strictly legal or correct, and as my relatives aren't young I wouldn't do this, but I could I understand people doing so.

Are positive tests going to be artificially low from Wednesday as a result I wonder?

Lots of colds around and people co rodent it’s not Covid and then discover they have caught Covid!

We’re going to get PCRs on the evening on the 22nd then hole up at home waiting for the results, so we know we’re ok to drive to visit family on Christmas Eve

I hope you’re paying for this extravagance!

Yes I don't really want to kill my family

Please don't do this unless you have symptoms. The system needs to be kept running smoothly for those who do actually need a PCR test.

Yes, I'll test as normal tbh. We aren't planning to go anywhere much over Christmas though and I have a supermarket delivery slot, so hopefully we won't starve if we have to isolate!
