It keeps taking me back to entering my NHS number (which I am inputting).

Been doing it since 2pm yesterday.

advised my dh to ring the GP since the online was asking for an almost 40 mile round trip.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 13/12/2021 07:26

or look out for drop in centres

TheElusivePotato · 13/12/2021 07:30

I booked boosters for DH, DD and I two weeks ago and the earliest date I could get was 21 December despite us all being 6m+. The nearest walk in is 30 miles away. Now that we have the super booster plan is it worth my cancelling the appointment and seeing if I can get one sooner?

gogohm · 13/12/2021 07:31

It is working now, but tried about 4 times booking for dd

reallyagain · 13/12/2021 07:33

Yes absolutely you can cancel the existing one and bring it forward, I did this last week and got it the next day instead of waiting

gogohm · 13/12/2021 07:34

@MrsLargeEmbodied

There was a shortage of sites 3 weeks ago too, if you are rural it's often 20 miles away (officially it's meant to be 10 max but despite living close to a major city it's 12 here because the nhs distances were as the crow fliesHmm)

TheEncouragingStranger · 13/12/2021 07:34

It did this for me too! I must've put my details in about 20 times, but it did let me through after that. Sounds like you've been trying much longer though! I kept on going with consecutive attempts though, annoying as it was. Hopefully you've not been repeatedly entering the info all night!

My husband did it in one go on his laptop, at the same time as me, whereas I was on my phone, so maybe try a different device if possible?

Thank you, I've tried on phone and laptop.

Going to try on a PC later today.

There is a drop in centre near me tomorrow, so I'll try and get to that one.

The decision to accelerate the booster programme was made yesterday. Those who actually run and organise the vaccination centres had no prior warning - we found out at the same time as everyone else. Please allow a little time for extra capacity to be put in place.

Boris did say from Wednesday you should be able to book online so just be patient!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 13/12/2021 07:52

yes, imagine the staffing issues today!

Aspiringmatriarch · 13/12/2021 07:53

I managed to book mine at 3 in the morning but still went round in circles a few times beforehand. Didn't get a confirmation but when I tried to book it again my chosen time slot was gone so I think it must have gone through. I recommend trying very late at night if you can wake up for it!

Frustratingly, I was able to book online yesterday morning, but didn't as the slots weren't particularly convenient. I wish I had now!

Yes I know others who booked early too. But obviously by Wednesday they are planning on releasing extra slots and stuff

Polmuggle · 13/12/2021 08:17

I've just booked mine. It tried to kick me out a couple of times or give a 404style page, but I just refreshed and carried on. Could have had an appointment for Thursday onwards

EssexLioness · 13/12/2021 08:56

It’s shocking how vaccine centres and GPs weren’t told in advance. My husband is a GP and they have told to cancel/ postpone all other appointments/ treatments in favour of the vaccine. That means phoning round patients, complaints etc. They also have to try and arrange staffing and get extra vaccines delivered. They were told a while ago before all this that they could order as many vaccines as they want but whenever they tried to order they were told that’s too many/ you don’t need all those etc. So now people will be trying to book their booster and they haven’t even got the vaccines available. Not to mention it is almost Christmas and there are two bank holidays straight after. The whole thing is awful and I can’t help feeling that Boris has thrown the GPs/ vaccine centres under the bus to distract us from all the talk about last years party scandal
