Are results taking a while at the moment or have mine got lost?

Had a PCR at a drive in test centre on Sat morning. Nearly 48 hours later and no result. They've usually come back within about 24 hours. So frustrating as it my son had a temp on Fri for a short while and has now fine - happens all the time so doubt it's Covid but obv we can't go out until confirmed

Are results taking longer at the moment because of demand? Any stories of results coming back in 48 hours? Really don't want to isolate for 10 days needlessly because of no test result.

Same position here. I think the labs are probably much busier at the moment (and it always seems to take a bit longer over a weekend probably due to less lab capacity on a Sunday).

I had a pcr 3 weeks an am still waiting on the result. I had it as a close contact so luckily not unwell!!!

In my experience they've been quick here but it depends per area. Our drive/walk in tests have been back within 15 hours this week and postal within 24 hours! I tested at 5pm last night at walk in and results just come through. But I think this is quick compared to most places! You can ring up chase it up I believe!

Had a postal test Thursday and nothing back yet usually it would be back by now usually so I'm guessing backlog

theshadeofgreen · 13/12/2021 07:36

Ours have al days taken 24 hours and come through at 6/7am.

We had a test last tues and didn't get it until Thursday, 9pm

In the exact same position OP... was really hoping to wake up to them this morning.

DD had one on Thursday evening and we got the (positive) result back in 13 hours so we were hopeful!

I had an arrivals test with express test at noon yesterday and got the results at 10 pm last night.

Have you not chased it up?
ineedacupoftea · 13/12/2021 08:23

I had to wait a long time last weekend, I eventually chased after waiting 72 hours and was told that they hadn’t registered my barcode properly, so the results were ready but they didn’t know where to send them. All our other results had come back previously in under 24 hours so this was an unusual wait and I wish I had tried to chase it earlier (although I fully expected to be told to keep waiting for the 72 hours if I had chased!)

DoubleShotEspresso · 13/12/2021 08:28

We sent 3 x tests together but T&T lost our child's test we had to get a replacement which cost us 6 days in the end.

cheninblanc · 13/12/2021 09:09

Polmuggle yes of course but the code I had given to me on the paper didn't match a test when I called. This was the 2nd pcr from contact as the first was an inconclusive result. I had no symptoms, tested with home tests every day and cancelled all social contacts just in case, I wfh so effectively isolated. I wasn't prepared to do a 3rd pcr that someone else might really need

Theunamedcat · 13/12/2021 18:38

Finally got ds negative results today if we had been isolating his isolation would have finished today anyway

I'm assuming there has been an upsurge in people wanting tests done going by other threads some places are demanding negative PCR tests for everything including vomiting so it's hardly surprising

UnusuallyUsual · 13/12/2021 18:50

Ring 119, quote your bar code number and they should be able to trace your test.
