I came out of isolation today as have been in for 10 days with covid, I did a lateral flow this morning as was really intrigued to what it would say anyway it came up as negative I thought it would be positive for up to 90 days so they say???

I've been reading up and LFs are really good at telling you when you're infectious. I'm on day 6 and got a bright red line yesterday. DD goes back to school tomorrow and hers is negative too.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/12/2021 20:21

The advice is they CAN still show positive, not that they definitely will.

Hotpinkangel19 · 12/12/2021 21:20

Ours were negative by day 6.

Whistleforthechoir · 12/12/2021 21:21

Ours were all negative within a week

CouldThisReallyBe · 12/12/2021 21:24

Mine was negative on day 10 too (I did it out of curiosity) but I was told that the reason that the advice is not to test for 90 days is because the result can be unreliable due to the fact that there can be traces of the virus in your system for that period of time.

Dimondsareforever · 12/12/2021 21:29

‘Can’ show for up to 90 days. Not ‘always will’. DD was negative after having covid. But showed positive (although really faint line) again on day 90. (Negative PCR).

I got covid, then my pater then my daughter. When hers first showed positive we had all done LFTs together and mine was negative, his faint line and hers bright positive. Even though I'm the one with the strongest symptoms still!

Somebodylikeyew · 12/12/2021 21:43

Up to 90 days. Its right there in your OP.

Kayjay2018 · 12/12/2021 21:46

My sons was negative a week after his PCR test , we were a bit surprised at the time.

Seeline · 12/12/2021 21:46

I thought it was more likely with the PCR s

Sparkle275 · 13/12/2021 06:06

I think the majority of people do show negative by the time isolation is finished, however your right you can show positive for up to 90 days. Our family of 5 have just come out of isolation after we all caught covid, everyone is testing negative apart from me who still has a faint positive. I suspect it may turn negative very soon considering how faint it is.

makingmiracles · 13/12/2021 06:27

Mine was neg 4 days after positive and dps 5 days after positive

mellongoose · 13/12/2021 07:14

I was LF negative on day 10 (coming out of isolation).
