Travel to Germany

If anyone has recent experience I would be grateful it they can check my understanding (after scouring pages and pages of goveerment advice!). I need to make certain two 18 year olds can do this without any major issues.

  1. Fully Vaccinated - no need to test before departure, just evidence of COVID pass on phone
  1. Need to test in Germany within 2 days of return. Can be LFT or Antigen, no need for PCR. BUT how can I find out where to do this? Is it easy when there? I can't see to buy one and take it through Randox.
  1. On return book day 2 pcr - easy through Ryanair/Randox.

Thank you in advance

If they do not go into the middle of nowhere you can do tests at every corner

In some regions you also need a LFT plus vaccine passport to go to a restaurant. The LFT lasts 24 hrs and you can do them everywhere. They do the test for you and provide a digital certificate. It's all very organised but restrictive.

  1. Do you mean the pre-departure tests prior to returning to the U.K.? If so, then LFT test centres are open daily (incl. Sunday) in most towns (check opening hours - in smaller places they might not be open through the whole day). The tests are free and you can request the results in to be written in English.

Alternatively U.K. companies, such as Randox, offer a pre-departure LFT test that you can pack to take with, and then self-test before returning to the U.K. I haven’t got experience of this, but apparently you just upload the photo of your completed LFT and they’ll email you a certificate to use to board the plane.

It all dependes which Land and venues in this Land you go to:
There are venues with 2G - vaccinated or recovered
There are venues with 3G - vaccinated or recovered or officially tested (no "I've done it at home and it is ok" tests)

Thank you everyone.

It basically sound easy to LFT when there!

I thought about purchasing LFTs through Randox and taking but wasn't sure if they would be valid.

I will chat with the two involved tonight and if they are happy with sorting out when there (they are in a hotel anyway so sure they can ask) will just purchase the PCR for day 2 arrival back.

Note - DD did this with friends last year, no issues and they organised themselves. This is DS who is rather more laid back/disorganised.
