NHS app has just told DH to self-isolate - but how?!

NHS app has just told DH he has to self isolate until midnight tonight (yes, all of three hours Hmm).

However, he has to have contact tracing switched off for work, so how has his app pinged?

Is the app linked to his mobile number perhaps?

Coincidentally, ten days ago he had two false positives on a LFT, later negative on a PCR. Might it be something to do with that?

If he has it turned on at other times out of work then it will be from then. The app works on Bluetooth and connects with other phones with the app

Sorry, I should have been clearer. He never has the Bluetooth switched on. (which I know is a different conversation!)

How weird. No idea but I know when it’s the app it’s not a legal requirement. I honestly didn’t think we really used it anymore since the restaurant check ins stopped and everyone turned off the contact tracing.’

We are utterly perplexed.

Weird. My money's on the LFTs triggering this somehow, though - timing seems to coincidental to not be, especially in the absence of any alternatives.

Is the 'contact' showing in the app? Sounds like he's had it switched on without realising.

Update:

When he had his PCR 10 days ago, he got a code to enter in the app. He did this immediately - I saw it with my own eyes!

So, I just decided to do it again. I went into the 'enter a test result' section, entered the same code, and it said (again) Your test result is negative etc.

The self-isolation alert then went away! It's no longer on the home screen of the app, just the normal "Contact tracing is paused."

So essentially it just seems to have been a bug of some kind - wonder if it's happened to anyone else this evening?
