Used old PCR tests and they've not come back

I had some PCR tests in stock which I'd ordered some months back when we had symptoms that turned out to be just a cold.

We now have Covid so we did the tests and sent them off on Monday, they're not back yet.

Do you think the company they were from maybe isn't processing them anymore?

I've ordered new ones.

We're to I'll to drive the 12 miles to nearest testing centre.

Bumping as I've wondered this. I ordered a home test, ( ds was a close contact at school but all the test centres near us are only open in school hours) but then he started coughing so couldn't go to school until we had a negative result so we went to a drive through centre as we could go anytime. Got the results back from that before the home test had even arrived so just stashed it in the cupboard. When we next needed one I went to use that one but then realised that the date symptoms started etc would be wrong? So we didn't use it. You're not meant to take a test after so many days of symptoms starting so I wonder if they've just assumed your symptoms started too long ago and don't even bother testing it? I don't know. Will be interesting to hear others experiences.

The recent home tests you have to register the barcode on the email sent when you ordered the tests, if you haven’t then you won’t get a result. You could try 119 to see if they can find them.

I used an old postal PCR test earlier in the week. I'd ordered it back in September when DH had covid but never used it

I started symptoms at the weekend so I used the test, registered it and posted it off. Then had a panic that it was too old and they wouldn't process it. So I rang 119 and the nice lady said it should be fine and not to worry.

And it was fine. Results came back next day (positive 🙁).

I would ring 119 OP and chase your results

I think due to testing samples for the Omicron variant (and that not all labs can test for the s-gene dropout - I may be talking balls here) tests results are taking longer.

My great niece tested positive on Tuesday, her positive PCR didn’t come back until late on Thursday. Her Mum (my niece) was PCR’d at the same time due to be job and is still waiting for her result as of 7pm last night. And this was with PCRs at a drive through centre!

But as I said earlier, I may be talking testicles lol.
