How many PCR's?

Husband tested positive on Monday so DC and I sent for PCR. DC positive, me negative, now contacted by NHS again due to DC. Do I go for another PCR? Anyone know?

Locally here we advised to wait a few days.

If you did one Monday, I’d hold off. That’s not based on any actual guideline though.
Those texts are sent automatic so they won’t go now you’ve already done a pcr as part of your household infection cycle!

LouMoo13 · 09/12/2021 08:54

Ok that's fine, don't want to accidentally break the law or something! ConfusedGrin

I’m a good girl too. Halo

It isn’t compulsory to do a pcr anyway so you wouldn’t be breaking any laws.

Are you doing lfts?

PurpleDaisies · 09/12/2021 08:58

Just thought-are you in England? The rules are different around the uk.

Harp1977 · 09/12/2021 08:59

Not in the UK but here you would be advised to test again on day 5 or 10 depend on vaccination status and Or if u had 3 clear antigens over 5 days isolation and fully vaccinated there would be no need to test again unless you develop symptoms

I had the same scenario in October

I ordered a postal pcr and did it on day 7 of the first person testing positive

mrsdolittle · 09/12/2021 09:00

I would consider doing another PCR maybe tomorrow OP. But as others have said - it's not a legal requirement.

LouMoo13 · 09/12/2021 09:26

Thanks all, I'm in England. Doing LFTs but so were DC and didn't ever test positive so not confident relying on them!

I think doing one in a few days is a good idea.

Similar boat. Dp positive Sunday. The rest of us negative so far - but it might of been too soon.

I would keep an eye on symptoms, do lfts and do a pcr if required.

Saying that Dp tested positive when asymptomatic - he had been a close contact. So no symptoms doesn't mean you don't have it!

My son tested positive on Saturday (lft) and we all had pcrs on Sunday mostly due to wanting other son to be able to return to school.
They were all clear (other than ds). We are daily LFTing but not intending to go for any other pcrs at the moment.
