Has any one's child been itchy all over with covid?

DS (5) says he's itchy and I can see him scratching his chest, tummy & arms. He doesn't have a rash. He's on about day 4 with covid and generally ok otherwise, other than cough, cold and a bit of a temperature. From googling itchiness doesn't seem to be a common symptom so I'm not sure whether to worry. I wonder if it's just from being stuck in the house with the heating on, maybe a bit of dehydration making his skin dry. Has anyone else had similar?

All four of us in the house are positive and really quite ill, with varying symptoms, so it's really hard for me to keep on top of which to worry about and which to just suffer through!

Itching with Omicron seems to be a thing for children, it was on the sky news app yesterday.

Yes, I also saw this on the news online today - itching and rashes with the new variant is apparently common in children.

Sorry I don't know how to link but here's a photo from the metro...

I saw the same about omicron but it seemed to say rashes specifically. Maybe a visible rash will come out soon. As far as we know we don't have omicron - it's been over 10 days since the person we caught it from tested positive, and no notification. But who knows!

I’d give some piriton.

Dh had itching with the original COVID 19. Came on each morning at 4am weirdly enough, then subsided.

Not dc, but when I had Covid in January I had a rash which was very itchy. The rash lasted longer than all the other symptoms!

Ds had a bad cold about 3 weeks ago, temperature, cough etc it really knocked him out. Pcr was negative. He had a rash for a few days too. I'm wondering now...

Ok hopefully nothing too worrying then, I will look out for a rash appearing.
