Are we gonna be over this by Christmas?

Dp is positive, tested positive at the weekend. Caught it from work where there's an outbreak.

I'm negative, so far. Did another pcr get today as have had a mild cough for a few days but sundays pcr was negative.

two dc are snotty! Awaiting pcr results!

Dp is isolating until next Wednesday 15th.

I would really like us to be fully back to normal a few days before Christmas at least so we can do something nice if we are feeling okay. Even if it's just going to see some Christmas lights.

Worried one of us will get positive on Dp's last day of isolation.

What's your experience on it spreading through family? How long did it take. It's been impossible for Dp to isolate from us here. He's not ill either.

I don't think it's possible to predict I'm afraid.

We are the story you don't want to hear as we got it one after the other so had it in the house for just under 4 weeks for the 4 of us.

But...as we had an outbreak in the youngest's school there were a lot of the local families who got it and there was a mixture of everyone getting it within a few days of each other or not everyone getting it in a family. There didn't seem much rhyme or reason to it.

So I think it's just a waiting game. Fingers crossed that not all of you get it or if you do, it's mild and through the whole family quickly and you can enjoy the lead up to Christmas.

Unfortunately our story is the same as @Breathmiller - 5 tested positive a few days apart. Adults still suffering 5 weeks on. I truly hope you are all ok for Christmas x

Hi OP, one of my relatives wore a mask and gloves in the kitchen and bathroom and basically stayed away from everyone else. No one else caught it. In another relative's house they didn't isolate or take any measures to reduce spread in the house and after 9 days one of the kids became poorly with it, then another 3 days later another child tested positive on a LFT but had no symptoms.

Cam2020 · 07/12/2021 19:30

I'm currently on day 9 of isolation and so far my daughter is clear. I'm dreading her having a positive LF test tomorrow. I've been wearing a mask at home and washing hands, wiping touch points at an obsessional rate - who knows whether that will be enough? I'm keeping everything crossed and will continue testing her into next week.

It's really hard to tell. Ds tested positive on 17th Nov and no one else caught it in our house.

A friend in his class however was positive on the same day and their house is still passing covid from 1 to another nearly 3 weeks later.

Stiffcondomhat · 07/12/2021 19:51

I tested positive on day 8 of dh having it Hmm (dd got it on day 6.)
I resigned myself to inevitably getting it, but was starting to think I'd avoid it by day 7. Silly me!

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 07/12/2021 20:31

Dd caught it, there are six of us in the house and not one of the rest of us caught it from her. So there’s hope!

halcyondays · 07/12/2021 20:35

Three of us had it, dh was the only one who escaped it, we all got our positive PCRs within a couple of days.

Whatdoyawannado · 07/12/2021 20:36

DS1 tested positive 10 days ago, DS2 positive 7 days ago and DH 4 days ago. I'm still negative and praying I don't test positive in the next week!

MonsterKidz · 07/12/2021 20:41

Ds2 tested positive and none of the rest of us caught it. We did nothing different, no masks, no extra cleaning etc.

wendz86 · 07/12/2021 20:42

I tested positive 8 days after my eldest tested positive and 6 days after youngest.

HerbertChops · 07/12/2021 22:28

DS age 9 tested positive, had blocked nose/headache. Didn’t isolate from each other, were mostly all at home as half term, older DS was actively trying to catch it as he was hoping to get an extra few weeks at home. And DS with Covid kept getting in bed with me at night and breathing in my face all night. None of us caught it.

And48 · 07/12/2021 22:39

My BIL tested positive on day 14 of my sisters isolation (back in the days when isolation was 14 days). He took PCR's every 3/4 days as he had same symptoms as my sister.

DialsMavis · 07/12/2021 23:01

DH is on day 8 now and DD and I havent caught it, LFTs every day... I was up for catching it when he did but if I get it now will be pissed off.But I have been an excellent nurse so I will expect the same in return...Wink
