Positive LFT on day 12, what to do??

Today should be my release day (maybe even yesterday) but I’ve just done an LFT and it’s still a big bold positive. I know PCR tests can show positive for weeks afterwards but from all I’ve read LFT’s only show active infection.
My OH had a faint positive on day 9 and then negative on day 10.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same and tested positive on LFT beyond 10 days?
Thanks

You aren't supposed to do LFTs either, same as PCRs. You finish your isolation as normal and go about your business.

I thought you weren’t meant to do LFTs within 3 months of a confirmed infection because of the chance they could show a false positive? If you aren’t symptomatic then I’d assume you’re fine to go out and about but maybe ring test and trace for advice?

Thanks. Just confusing as I’m still feeling ill and so didn’t want to risk putting anyone else at risk if there’s a chance of being contagious.
Would be good to know if anyone else had the same as so far everyone I’ve asked or read about had LFT negative either within or by the end of their isolation.

If you're still ill then you need to keep isolating. You don't need to keep isolating until lateral flows come up negative though.

freddiethegreat · 05/12/2021 10:23

If you are still ill, you stay in isolation - with the exception of a cough &/or anosmia, because they can last for weeks.

Hellohah · 05/12/2021 10:23

If you have a fever, you keep isolating.
All other symptoms you can go about your business.

This is what I was told when DC had it.

Not meant to do lft tests either. My friends daughter had covid, totally asymptomatic and isolated for 10 days. Tested positive on lft for weeks after!

halcyondays · 05/12/2021 10:34

Yes, unless you still have a temperature you can finish your isolation. It doesn’t matter if you still have a cough or any other symptoms. No point in doing an LFT a5 this stage.

Inanun2 · 05/12/2021 10:53

When I asked the T&T people on my last call before quarantine ending they said LFT test was fine to do. We had negative LFT on about day 9 (still isolated until D11).
I test 2x weekly still and it’s always been negative since my recovery (in fact anecdotally everyone I know who has had COVID their LFTs are negative too) I think you should call doctors for advise as seems unusual to still have positive LFT. Do you still have any symptoms ?

Mindymomo · 05/12/2021 10:55

Even if your LFT is still showing positive, you have passed the contagious stage of isolation, so unless you still have symptoms of temperature you can leave isolation. Also if you are still poorly after the 10 days, as many people are, then stay in a few more days until you feel better, but no point doing anymore tests.

Minkymandy · 05/12/2021 11:27

I am also on day 12 and test and protect told me to extend isolation by 48 hours if still unwell. I knew I wasn't well enough to be around people yet so happy to do this just to be responsible.

Tr0ubled · 05/12/2021 13:35

I still have symptoms that are consistent with my Covid experience. I never at anytime had any of the ‘core’ symptoms.
