Can 16&17 years get 2nd dose after 8 weeks

It's been 9 weeks since my son had his first dose. Is there anyway he can get the 2nd dose now? Rather than wait the recommended 12 weeks. He is 16 and we don't live with anyone immunosuppressed. So he doesn't qualify under that criteria.

No.

I believe so. This is what it says on the NHS site

My 17 yr old has had his 2nd jab.

Ah sorry I see you were asking about a reduction from 12 weeks. I don't know about that.

Wakemeuuuup · 04/12/2021 14:33

It's still 12 weeks unfortunately. I was hoping they'd drop 12-15 to 8 weeks so my son could have it before Christmas

Is it not 12 weeks to reduce issues with myocarditis after the 2nd dose?

trumpisagit · 04/12/2021 14:37

Given that it is safest at 12 weeks I wouldn't want to encourage a child to do it any earlier.
