What does this mean for businesses? Seen multiple posts from restaurants saying they now have availability for this date and that date in December. If it wasn't for Omricon coming to light, people wouldn't have cancelled even though there are high rates of covid. As the government haven't restricted hospitality, how are they going to cope?

I suspect people just don't want to risk isolating over Xmas. Bet they won't mind so much in January.

My work party is on 18th & I’m getting more anxious. I was shielding category last year but have felt much happier about things since having the jabs. I can feel myself getting anxious again though about the uncertainty of the new variant. I know my work will not cancel the party unless forced to. Not sure what to do as I think the feeling is if we’re vaccinated there is no reason not to attend. Worried I’ll be seen as a drama queen if I say now I don’t want to go🙁

@Watapalava

You only have to isolate a) if someone identifies you (absolute dickheadd if they name you xmas week), b) if T&T get you (that’s what blocking is for) So it’s totally possible to avoid isolation as I don’t associate with dickheads
This kind of behaviour os exactly why we are more likely to have yet more outbreaks and lockdowns. Well done!

I expect you're just too cool to follow the rules. Well, that's understandable. It's such a burden, being so freaking cool

Ireland closing nightclubs again and bringing back restrictions. I think this new variant will explode here in the next 3/4 weeks. Seems very transmissible. Hospitalisations in S Africa province where it is rife have done from 135 in a week a couple of weeks ago to 500 plus this week. Obviously not as many vaccinated over there. Let’s hope they keep the worst of the illness away.
