I wouldn’t… Codeine can reduce respiratory function. This is an illness known to do that very quickly anyway. You wouldn’t want anything that makes you sleepy and reduces respiratory function on top of the virus.
You can take ibuprofen and paracetamol together as long as you remember to never take ibuprofen on an empty stomach and ibuprofen must be taken every 6-8 hrs (depends on brand - check packet), paracetamol every 4hrs to avoid overdose and to also be efficient.
When you are ill or in pain it really is best to stick to a very strict time schedule with these meds. This way you avoid the peaks and lows of having them wear off and then needing to wait for them to kick in again. You will feel much better if you simply set alarms and take them on time.

Cocodamol is perfectly safe to take in the correct dosage.

Strengths available OTC do not affect respiration.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 03/12/2021 04:13

And please do not take paracetamol every 4 hours -this would amount to an overdose.

Take all medications as instructed by medical practitioner and/or as detailed on leaflet in packet.

Paracetamol should not be taken 5 - 6 times a day.

I don't know enough about cocodamol to say but you can take full dose of both paracetamol and ibuprofen in a day as they don't interact with eachother.

You can take it after 4 hours but only 4 times a day.

It is 4 - 6 hours in UK as well, with a maximum of 4 doses in 24 hours.

Yes you can take it. Cocodamol in the correct dosage does not cause respiratory depression. I take Cocodamol 30/500 and Tramadol for lupus pain (not together, one in the daytime and one at night) and have moderate asthma and have no issues with either affecting my breathing.

It's clear already that you need to ask your duct or because you've had responses that are all different. Probably non right. Ask a professional, not strangers. I'm guilty of doing the same but it's silly, you have no idea who these people are. Hope you feel better soon

lololololollll · 03/12/2021 07:14

Duct?? Lols doctor

LivingDeadGirlUK · 03/12/2021 07:17

You can speak to the pharmacist for advice too, remember Cocodamol has paracetamol in it so you can't take it if you have already had paracetamol.

TheVampiresWife · 03/12/2021 07:23

I often take cocodamol (30/500) a few times a day for RA pain. I've had covid twice - first time I was fairly ill, second asymptomatic. But I still had the RA pain too, so had to take my cocodamol. I was fine (well, as fine as you can be with covid and severe pain!).

One thing I will say though - codeine doesn't really do much for a headache, in fact it can actually make them worse. Try some by all means but don't be surprised if they don't help much. I find ibuprofen much better when I've got a headache.

Hope you feel better soon OP Flowers

Co-codamol was the only thing that helped me when I had covid as it makes me very sleepy, so helped at night too when I felt worse.

There is only one response that advises against cocodamol.

And try asking a doctor or pharmacist at 1.51 in the morning.

@Imfedupwithallofthis I don't think I meant immediately.
