Do you think large events will be banned?

Like panto or concert?

I have a gig next week and I'm really hoping it gets postponed as I'm not feeling I want to be amidst hot sweaty people breathing on me!

I don't think smaller gathering should be stopped - lateral flow before that should do it.

Don’t go then, why do you want it ruined for everyone else?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/12/2021 19:42

I hope they don't. Don't go if you don't want to, some of us do want to do those things!

AlecTrevelyan006 · 02/12/2021 19:47

No

Lemons1571 · 02/12/2021 19:49

No. No furlough and can’t see it being reintroduced so gigs will go ahead.

gukvguk · 02/12/2021 19:54

I won't be going I'd just like it rescheduled!
Im aware it's unlikely.

No

lobsteroll · 02/12/2021 20:25

I really hope not. Covid isn't going anywhere so I really don't think the world should sit and home waiting for something that is never going to come.

LIZS · 02/12/2021 20:26

Some of the London theatres are requesting masks but will stay open.

MiniatureHotdog · 02/12/2021 20:27

Nope. I agree with a pp, if you don't want to go, fine, but lots of people are trying to carry on life as normal so why should they miss out? Was it booked pre pandemic or postponed?

OliveTree75 · 02/12/2021 20:35

No I don't think so and I really hope not. Took my kids to a packed panto last night and was fab seeing them so happy and having so much fun!

VaccineSticker · 02/12/2021 20:45

Take a high grade mask with you and go. Ffp2 or ffp3 for best protection. While many people are careful and isolating if they have symptoms, many have given up and are selfishly going out because it’s inconvenient and they don’t don’t want to miss out.

XenoBitch · 02/12/2021 20:47

I hope not... and that is for the sake of the staff who run these things, If they get cancelled, then surely the staff should be furloughed.

Lifewith · 02/12/2021 20:48

What about the artists that need the gig?

NeverTheHootenanny · 02/12/2021 20:52

Postponed to when though? When covid is eradicated?

Don’t go if you don’t feel comfortable, the world can’t stop forever though.

fakereview · 02/12/2021 21:30

I agree, I went to a concert a couple of weeks ago and wore a FFP2 mask. As far as I know, didn't catch covid (or anything else!)
MrsSkylerWhite · 02/12/2021 21:33

So don’t go.
I’m not at any particular risk but my CEV husband is. So, we’ll adapt to circumstances. I would hate that people at very low risk should have to curtail their lives again. It’s just not right.

XenoBitch · 02/12/2021 21:36

@Lifewith

What about the artists that need the gig?
They have to suck it up. Performance arts and similar is just a hobby, not a career. That was pretty much what hey were all told during the first lockdowns... oh, and to retrain in IT.
Katie517 · 02/12/2021 21:37

What a selfish attitude to want something canceled just because you don’t want to go anymore! You are aware that people work in these industries that rely on things going ahead to put food on their families tables right? If you don’t want to go because you don’t feel “safe” feel free to stay at home but don’t go wishing for things to be ruined for everyone else.

gogohm · 02/12/2021 21:40

No because I want to go to them Grin

To be honest I had covid in March 20 and it was no big deal so I'm pretty relaxed, triple vaxxed as of today

RedToothBrush · 02/12/2021 21:42

Yes I think they will be restricted in size. But not by next week.

WalkingOnSonshine · 02/12/2021 21:43

Our Christmas party of 750 has been cancelled.

Pascal80 · 02/12/2021 21:50

Yes, eventually I think large events will be banned. (my guess is mid-Jan) I work in events and two massive Christmas balls that we have organised in a stately home have been cancelled by the clients. I am obviously gutted as all the work we put in to them was all for nothing.

I found out tonight that my own work Christmas party (in a massive spacious castle) has now been cancelled as well. Christmas lights switch-on cancelled in my town. I can see where this is going. I hope I am completely wrong.

gukvguk · 02/12/2021 21:51

I do want to go.
But on a similar note I don't.
So I know it sounds selfish - I'm happy not to go am just pondering if they'll even go ahead.

People are posting daily on the band's fb page about coming down with Covid after the gigs last week.

It's rescheduled from last year.

My DS has Covid right now and we are almost at the end of isolation and I have not caught it. I don't want to have dodged that bullet only to get it from a gig.

@xenobitch I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not?

DockOTheBay · 02/12/2021 22:34

I hope not. It would be (another) disaster for the hospitality industry. Last Christmas was a write off - no parties, pubs and restaurants closed, nobody staying in hotels. Christmas is the most lucrative time of year for many hospitality businesses and they can't afford a second hit.
