Hi,
I wondered if anybody else had been trying private blood tests to try to figure out long covid or difficult vaccine side effects?
I've had two really difficult lots of long covid (Alpha and Delta) and my one vaccination cause really awful side effects that have never fully resolved.
I tried having some private blood tests to see if I could figure out what was going on. My GP surgery are great btw, but they have already done an absolute truckload of blood tests, and referred me to the long covid clinic. I just wanted a bit of an update to see how I was prgressing, and didn't want to bother them, as I know they are super-busy.
Anyway, my tests who that my covid antibody concentration is >2500U/ml which is the highest that can be measured, and I'm pleased about that.
My other blood tests and a hair analysis showed that I am short of several vitamins and minerals, which makes perfect sense as I have a lot of trouble with food intolerance and aversion to the taste and smell of food. (This was all there before as part of a pre-existing condition.)
Part of the reason why I didn't have my second vaccine is because the first one made the eating difficulties radically worse, and I was worried that a second vaccine might make my eating situation get really serious.
Now that I know I have lots of covid antibodies but also a lot of vitamin and mineral deficiencies, I feel more confident about working hard on nutrition as my main goal for recovery.
My definite deficiencies are Iodine, and vitamin D. I have a lot of symptoms that look like B12 deficiency, but which have been getting better since I've been working hard to correct that. I've also gained more than a stone in weight since working on correcting iodine deficiency. Yay!
Supplements disagree dramatically with me, which complicates things.
I just wondered if anybody else had been working to disentangle long covid and vaccine side effects using private testing like this?
Thanks!
