Sorry to ask for help but I'm feeling very overwhelmed and stressed. Hubby is not great at this stuff and is getting frustrated too.

So he and son are coming back to the UK from Canada for 7 days as his parents are not well (they are divorced and live 400 miles apart).

We understand that the new rules mean they need to test and isolate until the results which should be within day 2.

They are looking to see if they can get a test and the results quicker than the day 2 as they don't want to waste 2 days isolating when he has 3 family members to visit that are in different parts of the country.
I'm struggling to sort through all the links on the Gov website and work out what are reasonable priced.

Can anyone help me with exactly what we need to do. This was a last minute trip booked as he was worried but it was booked 2 days before these changes when we thought they would just need to do lateral flows.

I meant to add, they are flying into and out of Heathrow. His mum and brother are in Kent. They would be who he is going to visit first.

He needs a pcr but it doesn’t have to be done exactly on day 2. We are having ours the same day we fly back at the airport walk in clinic . The results normally take up to 24 hours which of course we’ll isolate for. If they have that then it’s only 24 hours.

Thanks for replying. :)
He's looking for the same day turnaround. So there looks to be one at Heathrow that's £129 for a 3 hour turn around and one that's £75 results by midnight the same day. So would he be allowed to do the £75 one and drive straight to his mum's, not stopping etc or does he need to stay at the test centre?

I'm hoping to be as cost effective as possible while following the rules. the £129 x 2 is $450 for me on what was a trip I bloody didn't want him to book in the first place as we're broke.

So when fills out the locator form for coming to the uk they will ask where he staying for the duration of the trip. He has to go there following his test and stay there till he gets the results. He can’t go anywhere or see anyone that lives outside that place till he gets the results either.

He doesn’t need to stay at the test centre no, just go to his mums if that’s where he’s going first - he just couldn’t go from Mums to somewhere else etc without getting the negative PCR result

You need to make sure its a day 2 pcr. I though the 3 hour turnarounds were the pre travel ones.
