I have been sleeping on a mattress in a box room since I tested positive. Would I be really awful if I ended isolation now so I can spend the evening hugging my SEN kids???

I don't think the virus watches the clock all that closely, so I'm sure it'll be fine!

TamaraDeLempicky · 29/11/2021 16:22

True! I have this innate need to stick to the rules, regardless of how ridiculous they are!

I had covid in January and no caught it off me in my household of 6. My 9 year old had it in August and we didnt isolate him and no one caught it off him either. So on that basis, personally I dont see the point of isolating from your own young kids that you live with. I did it January but I wouldnt do it again

Porcupineintherough · 29/11/2021 16:23

Depends. If you are still feeling terrible and feverish, I'd give it a few more days. If you are basically recovered/recovering then go for it.

TamaraDeLempicky · 29/11/2021 16:28

I think the only benefit of isolating from them was to ensure my DH's health - our household would fall to pieces if there were two unwell adults and two physically healthy SEN kids 😂

I don't believe I have symptoms now which would make me still contagious. In fact, I didn't have a cough or a fever 🤷🏻‍♀️ Such a strange illness!

I think I’m now about to get roasted then!

Felt a bit meh last Tuesday so went to bed early. Felt I had a slight head cold coming on on Wednesday but so mild I didn’t think any more of it. Felt 100% on Thursday but suddenly no sense of taste/smell. LFT positive so isolation until 23.59 on 5/12. My PCR took 4 days to come back - and it’s void - so back to square one with new test submitted today.

Basically, I’ve probably had covid for over week. There’s only me and DH in the house. We’ve been to the same places over the last fortnight so wherever I picked it up, he was there too. I was happy to remove myself to the spare room and use the kitchen etc at separate times, but DH said there’s no point as he’s already been as exposed as he can be. He’s triple vaxxed and every day his LFT has been negative.

Apart from the loss of smell, I have absolutely no symptoms. Have we been really bad by not isolating from each other?? 😳😳😳

HelplesslyHoping · 29/11/2021 16:57

@2389Champ As long as you've both not been seeing other people or leaving the house I don't see why it's bad, it's a personal choice and risk you choose to take to potentially infect each other.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 29/11/2021 17:58

I don't think you've been bad @2389Champ, DH and I will be the same if one of us gets it. We don't have a spare room so we're just going to have to get on with it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/11/2021 18:06

I am allowed out on the 1.12. if I have no symptoms and my 'get out of jail PCR' is negative. If not they add 48 h.

The slight cold I had is gone since Friday.

pumpkinpie01 · 29/11/2021 18:15

@2389Champ similar situation here , the only clue I had was not being able to taste , felt like I had a cold coming but that was it. My DH told his boss who just told him to do a lateral flow test every day . Some evenings I sat upstairs and others in the lounge together . He never caught it.

freddiethegreat · 29/11/2021 18:17

@Prokupatuscrakedatus are you in the UK? I didn’t think we needed a ‘Get out of jail’ test. Indeed here, unless you have new symptoms, my understanding was that you don’t test for 90 days.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/11/2021 18:30

@freddiethegreat
No, I am not. They have not changed your rules while you were not looking Smile
I got a mail, a questionaire etc. and phone call from health authorities, and the PCR is booked with my GP (separate location) 12pm on the 30th.

(If I venture out and am unlucky to get caught it may cost me up to 25.000 € depending on what I was up to.)
