13 years old & wants a second covid vaccine

can a 13 year old get a second dose of the covid vaccine (privately)? how would you go about getting this?

DD wants to travel to Europe with us, but lots of countries won't allow a 13 year old in without double vaccination. She (& all of us) are happy with vaccine safety etc. So where would we go to get the vaccine for her, and make sure she has the right certificate for travel?

If your in England you can't.

Helenluvsrob · 28/11/2021 22:47

Nope. Covid vax not available privately AFAIK unfortunately

dementedpixie · 28/11/2021 22:47

No they won't get a 2nd one in the UK as it's not offered for that age group yet

LemonCake79 · 28/11/2021 22:48

According to The Telegraph the JCVI is expected to approve second jabs for 12-15 year olds within days so I'd sit tight and see what's said this week.

dementedpixie · 28/11/2021 22:48

On another thread someone travelled to NI to get one I think

parietal · 28/11/2021 22:50

one of her school friends travelled to the USA to get it in the summer, but that seems a bit excessive. I have heard of adults getting their choice of jab privately, but I don't know how.

Currently no, but likely to change as it's currently being looked at. 12 weeks is the likely gap between doses.

There's also now walk in and appointments available around the country for anyone whose dc missed the school vaccination round.
