Not sure yet if home learning will be for all children or if key worker and vulnerable children will be in school, and we certainly won't be closed to teaching staff as we teachers will be teaching from home- those of us who are well enough. But over half the staff have covid now. Head will make a decision by 12pm today and then inform parents

@xxxGirlCrushxxx

Can see all schools closing early for Christmas and going back late jan

Makes sense if other restrictions are slowly kicking in

I doubt it. The government are not currently acknowledging there is a problem. The media haven't noticed either 🙄

Boris reacted fairly quickly this time....that un nerves me a little.

You're right 😬

@Quartz2208

The problem is that it does tend to be localised - within a local authority/town/school so that any wider ranging decisions are not helpful.

For example both of my childrens school are fairly ok at the moment having been hit incredibly hard at the beginning of term. Any early break up wouldnt help unless we get hit this side of Christmas and puts on the backfoot after christmas.

Agree with this. We were hit really hard just before half term. Most kids have now had it so it would ridiculous to have any new restrictions.

And the border closures...

We had a huge outbreak before half term. Half the teaching staff, several TAs and about 1/3 of the kids (we are a one form entry school so not as dramatic as that might seem). School stayed open. They shipped in supply staff & on we went. We did temporarily re-introduce bubbles & no visitors but back to normal after half term. All the teaching staff were back after 10 days. And all but one TA. The one that wasn’t was back after 14 days. Most people recover just fine, contrary to mumsnet reporting 🙄

There’s no way they are closing schools early for Christmas. There’s only 2 or 3 weeks left depending on when you break up! Our Christmas events are full steam ahead. Whole school trip to the panto this week, nativity the week after with parents watching.. exciting 🙌🏼

Lucky you. Covid currently sweeping through our primary school - panto trip and nativities all cancelled 😩 gutted.

Thewiseoneincognito · 28/11/2021 22:28

Schools won’t be able to remain open safely once close contact isolation begins this week.

Bobholll · 28/11/2021 22:30

They will @Thewiseoneincognito - there are 3 weeks left of term. This new variant isn’t going to drastically take hold in that space of time. Maybe in January but certainly not the last couple weeks of this term!
