Positive PCR result last Friday. Took ill the same day, Unable to get up since, unless for toilet.
Eaten 3 slices of toast and a bit of veg soup since Friday.
Feel so ill. How long am I meant to feel like this & how do you know when your body needs help to get through?
Am feeling pretty desperate.
Difficult to type because the light hurts my eyes.
Thank you for reading/response

Poor you!

But I'm afraid it's a 'how long is a piece of string?' sort of question.

Most people, who didn't require hospital, are however on the mend before a week is up. But there's a lot of variation

FellaItzgerald · 23/11/2021 14:58

But what I mean is at what point did they realise they needed to be hospitalised?

Do you have an oximeter? Do you feel breathless?

I would suggest ringing your GP to ask for advice, and if they're no good I believe 119 can be helpful. They will at least have experience to ask you the right questions.

I’m also sick and the advice my GP gave me was - feeling so breathless you can’t do basic things like shower or eat because you have to prioritise breathing. If it gets like that, call 999 or 112. If you are worried then call for advice (not 999 obvs but your GP)

FellaItzgerald · 23/11/2021 15:41

Frenchfancie that's useful thanks - showering would be completely out of the question & has been since Friday.
Getting up to go to the toilet is a massive effort.
Wouldn't know about eating properly because food has barely crossed my mind

I think I will ring GP am just so confused with all the rules now.

good luck Fella. It sounds horrid.

I rang 111 back last december and got a referral to the covid helpline. She sorted me out with an appointment with my gp a few hours later after loads of clinical questions. It was a far quicker process.

Poor you
Also had symptoms since Friday. I think ongoing flu symptoms are pretty much standard no matter how nasty. In terms of being worried it would only be the breathlessness they would be overly concerned about I’d imagine. The rest will take time and rest.
