Am I entitled to booster? Unpaid carer.

I have two children with sen. My eldest being more significantly affected. I was offered covid jab early due to being his carer.

First dose in late feb and second in May. Now been 6 months. Does that mean I should book booster?!

I'm only 30. No health problems but I'm very confused by it.

Unpaid Carers were in group 6 last time. Info on nhs page not clear.

Yes, I work part time as a carer and am also on carers allowance for my disabled son. When I went for booster I was asked why I was eligible as I was under 50, I said I am a paid carer and also my sons carer and the nurse said either of those make me eligible (I had been asked to book by gp service as family carer).

TheStarMachine · 22/11/2021 19:12

Yes. You should be able to book online now. I was able to.

NannyR · 22/11/2021 19:16

If you go on to the nhs booking website and enter your details, it will offer you an appointment based on when you had your second jab, it might be worth trying that.

gogohm · 22/11/2021 19:16

Yes, I got my reminder yesterday

PickAChew · 22/11/2021 19:17

Yes, you should be able to book online.

ColettesEarrings · 22/11/2021 19:25

Yes I got mine last week x

curlygirlcrying · 22/11/2021 19:28

Yes. I'm registered as a carer for DH and got my 'invitation' last week.

PinkNavy01 · 22/11/2021 19:48

Absolutely, I have two SEN children and myself and DH received an email and text asking us to book our boosters. We are 34 and 37

Calee03 · 22/11/2021 19:59

Thank you all. I haven't had a text or letter. I had a letter from gp last time (not text) but haven't heard a thing! It's been just over 6 months. I think it was the 16th of May when I had the second dose!

Yes. Im unpaid carer for my dad due to multiple health issues. I got my reminder last week and going to a walkin place to get mine done.

Angel2702 · 22/11/2021 20:45

Yes I booked as soon as it let me online and had booster at exactly 182 days over a week ago. Only just had letter today saying please book as unpaid carer.

GlomOfNit · 22/11/2021 21:04

Yes, definitely (regardless of whatever your GO surgery says, because mine said not). I've just had my own booster on that basis - I got a letter, booked online, boostered 4 days later. Smile

FredaFox · 23/11/2021 06:56

I'm an unpaid cater, I rang my gp last week who said I'm still eligible and to ring 119 I think it was but I got an email the next day with booking details, I am also 40 though so not sure which reason I got the email

Justrealised · 23/11/2021 07:19

Make sure you are registered as a carer with your go, they put a marker on your file. It's used for other things too not just the covid booster so is worth doing.

I had a letter a couple of weeks ago to remind me stating unpaid carer. Maybe give the booking line a call and see if they will book you in.

frogsbreath · 23/11/2021 11:01

I saw this earlier from department of health and social care, just to confirm for you, as a pp said some gp surgeries argue the toss about eligibility

Am I entitled to booster? Unpaid carer.

Yeah I should be. Because I had the letter to book the first jab and it said because I wasn't a carer etc etc. So can't see how that has changed or been took off my record!

I’m an unpaid carer and was able to book last week for next week. I think as long as it’s flagged on your medical records at the GP you should be able to - if you aren’t entitled/correctly recorded the system won’t allow you to book.
