Positive lft this morning negative this eve?

My ds had + lft this morning. Tested him again this evening and negative. I was curious to see if the line got darker as faint this morning! Has this happened to anyone else. PCR done today, waiting for results.

This happened to DD. Her PCR was positive.

If you’re positive on lft you’ve most likely got Covid

Fadette · 22/11/2021 19:16

This happened to us and PCR was negative. Had multiple positive LFTs then multiple negative LFTs the next day and negative PCR.

I’ve had really really faint positives on a few LFTs the last few days but my PCR Sunday was negative

My DD2 has had 3 positive lft but PCR negative. Called 119 to check what to do and they said PCR results stand. LFT negative this evening. DD1 does have covid at the moment.

Pcr back negative!

What makes an lft show positive when there's no virus?

I am also having this issue at the moment with my daughter who has also lost her sense of taste and smell, has a headache and a sore throat and has had multiple LFT's that are positive and a negative PCR. Also a friends daughter is the same. It's quite concerning really.

A family member also had this last week. I think theres been new strains for a while that arent registering.

bettertimesarecomingnow · 23/11/2021 13:17

apparently some fruit juices do? That's why they say don't eat or drink before you do the test.

@bagginses if you don't mind me asking did you get another PCR? Only I notice you say that DD1 does have covid at the moment.

119 said to not get another one as it was the day after. Really odd. Luckily DD2 has has negative LFT since then. If she had another positive I would have taken her anyway.

I have gone for another PCR this evening as still getting very faint lines on LFT

Treaclepie19 · 23/11/2021 19:33

This happened to my ds. No clue why and he has been very poorly.

Flaxmeadow · 23/11/2021 20:02

Because the actual virus has gone and is undetectable at that point. It doesn't stay in the sytem long, even though you can still feel poorly

Someone I know
Had a LFT, big strong dark line
Week later was in hospital, tested positive PCR on admission
Went home 2 days later, had a negative PCR just before going home

This is why people sometimes get moved from covid wards onto general wards, or why they might even be put straight onto a general ward, because they are no longer infectious, even though they might still be poorly. They are negative/or have had (I think?) a ten day period from the first positive test

Flaxmeadow · 23/11/2021 20:03

...But always best to be sure of course with a PCR
