My dp is on day 11 since symptoms started, he still has positive lft. I know pcr would show positive but what about lft?

Is he contagious?!!

You arent supposed to test with PCR or LFD for 90 days after a positive PCR. If he's done his 10 days and hasn't got a fever then he's OK to go back to normal

I tested my kids every day with a lft just to see what happened and it got fainter and fainter till it went which was about day 8. I would personally exercise some caution

Jesus do people not look on the gov website ever? We’re nearly 2 years into this pandemic. No you don’t test for 90 days , you still have covid but you are not contagious after 10 days hence the isolation.

Did he test with a pcr? And have the calls from T&T?
If so they let you know the reasons why isolation should be extended.

Thank you all.

Wow @gettingolderandgrumpy your users name suits you well 😁. Surprisingly I have looked on the government website. It is clear a positive test within 90 is possible with a pcr.

It does also advise that if you have a positive lft once you are back to normal you should isolate etc.

I am CEV so have to be very cautious as you will understand.

But you aren't supposed to use the LFT for 90 days either and if you do regular testing for school/work, etc then you can stop that for 90 days too

DavidDevantsSpiritWife · 21/11/2021 08:54

DH did an LFT 'out of curiosity' seven weeks after he had covid and it showed a very faint positive. You definitely can be showing positive when you're not contagious!

Angrymum22 · 21/11/2021 10:27

No he is no longer contagious. Both tests can pick up the fragments of protein left after infection but these fragments are not active virus so cannot cause infection.
I had Covid at the beginning of Sept so cannot test until next month because I risk getting a false positive. I am no longer contagious for Covid but we are busy catching up on 18mnths of colds and every other respiratory virus going as a family.

ChristmasCovid · 21/11/2021 10:46

He is not contagious as long as he doesn’t have a fever, runny nose & sneezing or either D&V.
Cough/loss of smell or taste can last longer and does not require further isolation.
He should not be doing further tests within 90 days unless new symptoms develop which may indicate new infection.
