Current PCR turnaround? How have your primary aged kids been?

DS (8) tested very positive on a LFT this morning.

We took him to a drive through at 11am. So hoping we have results by Monday morning.

So far he's totally symptomless and loving the idea of a week off school.

But I'm concerned there's a chance he could start feeling unwell at a later date?

Also - myself and DH are both double pfizered.
So wondering how long until we know if we have avoided infection or until we'll test positive from exposure to DS? We will do LFTs daily for the next while.

DS (10) tested positive recently; school notified us he was a close contact so should test. He didn't have any symptoms when we tested and that continued to be the case throughout except about a week after the positive test he felt a bit under the weather one morning.

DH and I did a PCR when we got DS's result which was negative. About 4 days later, I started getting mild symptoms so tested again and was positive. So DH took a PCR and was also positive but had no symptoms.

Our PCRs generally took about 24 hours to come back.

CornishYarg · 20/11/2021 16:19

Oh and when I tested positive on the PCR, the LFT was still saying negative.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 20/11/2021 16:46

10 year old DD had a very positive LFT this am after a bad night and we went to drive through PCR for all family members today.

My LFT today was negative but we both have high temp, bad headache and aches generally. I’m double vaccinated with AZ but second dose was over 5 months ago. 12 year old DS had his jab on Monday but think that’s too recent to help. He’s feeling fine at the moment though.

Hope you all stay feeling well

We've had results within 14 and 11 hours recently! So could be tonight or early hours. Often quite a few hours between email and text too. Email came through at midnight and text at 7am the next day so check emails too!

I have a friend and her dc have had covid recently - totally asymptomatic the whole time. They had been in close contact with someone that later tested positive. First pcr was negative and an lft a few days later was positive and confirmed with pcr. They didn't have any symptoms at all. If they didn't do a a lft a few days after the initial negative pcr they wouldn't have known they had it. Their parents did not catch it.

Thanks so much all.

And thanks @Calee03 - will keep an eye on the emails.

Really hoping we stay in the clear. Smile

Just as a follow up.

We did the PCR at a drive through yesterday (South London) at 11:15am.

Results by email today 8am.

So currently a nice quick turnaround.

Now to keep an 8yo entertained at home for 10 days!

Good it was so quick! We’re still waiting after our 10am PCR yesterday, but I guess it’s only just over 24 hours. Hope the 10 days goes quickly for you!

We are in the North West and the last two that DS and I had have come back in less than 24 hours which really surprised me.

We had one a few weeks ago at 10am on a Sun and DS result came through at 11.30pm that night and mine at 1am Mon morning.

Had to get us both tested this morning at 9.30am as DS has a cold/cough and two children I teach tested positive late last week. Hoping for quick results again.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 21/11/2021 14:26

28 hours and still waiting. As long as they come by 7am tomorrow nothing will be any more disrupted than it already is…

Spacemonkey2016 · 21/11/2021 14:29

We're in Essex and currently at almost 30 hours.

FlyingFlamingo · 21/11/2021 14:33

South Wales - 28 hours so far, I do them regularly due to the nature of my work and being part of the Siren study and usually get them within 48 hours, apart from when I was positive last December - that took 4 days. My quickest is about 15 hours I think.

Thanks for the heads-up about the emails coming before the texts. DH was waiting for his PCR result today and was checking his texts frequently. After seeing your comment I checked our emails and sure enough his result was there - negative luckily.
BobbieT1999 · 21/11/2021 14:41

My pcr took less than 24h - I was impressed!

Ohsofedupwiththis · 21/11/2021 15:24

Our PCRs have been ages. Ds had to have 2 days of school for a cough (which had disappeared not long after we booked test!).

It was much slower than previously.

Delatron · 21/11/2021 16:10

We did both DS’s on Friday morning at 8am. Results emailed at 3am Saturday morning. So less than 24 hours.
Did ours yesterday at 11.30am. Email at 8am this morning. SE.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 21/11/2021 16:29

Got our results - took 40 hours, simultaneous email and text. DD is positive, myself and DS negative, and hopefully we’ll stay that way (though DD has been all over me…)

tunnocksreturns2019 · 21/11/2021 16:29

30 hours. Typo!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 21/11/2021 16:43

We’re in South Wales and are getting our results in 12-14 hours.
Some of yours are taking so long!

FlyingFlamingo · 21/11/2021 18:04

Mine just came through (negative) after 32 hours

CouldBeReady · 21/11/2021 20:43

Mine came through after 26 hours but I'm still waiting for DC's 😫. It's been about 34 hours and I'm getting impatient!
