Bracing myself for test and trace….how was it for you?

DS1, DS2, DS3 and I all tested positive on lateral flow yesterday so dutifully had our PCR tests…there is no chance they will be negative. Now waiting for test and trace to start calling as my number went down on all the tests. Are they going to call me separately for each child or is the system sophisticated enough to realise we are all in the Samar household? I am worried I might get 4 sets of calls daily! (And feel pretty ill at the moment)…

Dh tested positive Tuesday and hasn’t had a call at all just text and Email. We completed the t&t online

Watapalava · 19/11/2021 18:12

Me and DD has pcr and completed T&T form online - no further contact at all

DS and DH just went via LFT and didnt bother with PCR - just isolated accordingy

Dingleberry8 · 19/11/2021 18:19

I hope we are as lucky! I think I have been spooked with people talking about getting loads of calls…

I tested positive, results arrived at about 4:30 on Monday, by the time I woke up I had had three emails and texts. They have called me three times every day since. I answer once if it suits me, the rest I ignore.

A complete PITA and I really don't need to be woken up by T&T.

paddler78 · 19/11/2021 18:32

Called us twice after DDs (15) positive test, first time just after 8am on a Sunday needless to say I was asleep, called back later that day said it would take 25mins took closer to an hour, wouldn't speak to DD who would have been able to provide the info they wanted so there was a lot of I am sorry I don't know, that said the lady on the phone was lovely and clearly just doing her job - no follow up phone calls or emails to check.

DramaLlllama · 19/11/2021 18:34

DDs positive PCR came through this morning. Test & Trace called within half an hour, DD hung up on them because the call went through ontk the ipad and she was busy playing minecraft and didnt want to be disturbed 😂 They called again about 2 hours later. Spent 30 mins with them telling them all the contacts (which in reality was school only). I think I’m coming down with it now so am guessing I’ll go through the same when I get my PCR result. Then we’ll see how often they call me!

PlugUgly1980 · 19/11/2021 18:39

Yep, they'll call you separately for each child! No way to do one after the other or fill them in simultaneously, and no online option either.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 19/11/2021 18:44

No phone calls after the initial 30 min Trace phone call and then just 1 text. However a friend of mine was called several times a day, emailed and texted daily .

Dingleberry8 · 19/11/2021 18:59

As well as being called for myself and each child because we are positive will I also get called because we are all “close contacts” for each other?

Only had one positive test here and had one phone call the next day, no follow up calls.

Have the PCR it's useful if you're going away or if they bring in vaccine passports here.
DrMadelineMaxwell · 19/11/2021 22:49

I filled in the form online then didn't hear from them for the entire 10 days.

JaffavsCookie · 19/11/2021 22:58

Been pestered by them repeatedly, have been really ill so have not appreciated early morning phone calls to remind to isolate

JuneOsborne · 19/11/2021 22:59

Teen D's tested positive. One phone call. All very swift. Poor bloke had a stinking cold....

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 19/11/2021 23:00

I spoke with them 3 times as got bored half way through the online form. They phoned a lot before 8am, but my phone was downstairs so I didn't know about it. First call was annoying - why can't they google postcodes of Tescos etc- probably 20 mins, but the rest were fine.

I tried to remember that it much be a shit job, so tried to be cheerful.

MovingtoEssex · 19/11/2021 23:12

@Dingleberry8 for you each being close contacts, no we didn't called for that.

I've done t+t today for DS, and just got texts (while I was still on the phone) saying we were close contacts.
Call took 24 mins.
I had no contact details for classmates and didn't have our NHS number.
They seemed sufficiently reassured by me insisting I'd told school and scouts, and that school were emailing parents of all classmates.
Good luck - that's going to be a tedious couple of hours.

GellerYeller · 19/11/2021 23:26

I got a call from a mumbling guy so I didn't hear at first that he was telling me my child had tested positive. He then made a supposedly lighthearted comment that was totally inappropriate to the point I asked if this was a joke and was he actually calling from the NHS? Things went downhill for the poor guy from there really. No Callum, I don't have the postcode of the local Tesco/church hall/corner shop as we so rarely note it down in case we can't find our way back in future.

At the end of the call he had to ask if I was happy with how it had gone Hmm I've a colleague who had calls asking if they were home isolating but we didn't get any further contact.

Coughee · 19/11/2021 23:28

One call for all here and only on one day. Then a text confirming the advice they'd given us.

queenjaneappro · 19/11/2021 23:45

They phoned at 8:04 this morning asking to speak to my 8 year old. Was on phone for over 40 minutes, they said they'd check in every few days 😩
I'm putting my phone on do not disturb until 10 tomorrow as we're all knackered.

I saw on another thread people saying they blocked the number. Can you do this without getting into trouble?

queenjaneappro · 19/11/2021 23:47

Just to clarify they didn't speak to my 8 year old who was fast asleep due to being unwell with covid. I was on phone for 40 mins with them. Ridiculous!

PyjamaFiend · 19/11/2021 23:51

Odd that they wanted postcodes for places you’ve been - I would have thought they could have used a type of address matching that matches a string of text rather than a postcode lookup. But maybe the ‘find as you type’ style has too many options for ‘Tesco’. Postcode look ups are great, but only if you know the postcode (obviously).

thaegumathteth · 20/11/2021 00:19

When ds tested positive we didn't have any phone calls, from memory they sent a link to complete a form online and that was it.

wendz86 · 20/11/2021 07:02

I had phone calls for both kids to go through contacts etc . After that just had text every few days for them to remind to keep isolating.
For me I filled out my details online which was pretty easy as i had been stuck in with kids. Have since been called on day 4 and 7 and they said they will call today day 10.

Simplelobsterhat · 20/11/2021 07:29

It seems to vary massively. We are in wales My dd tested positive 3 days before ds, last month, both had my number on their pcr booking.

For DD we had one missed call from T&T about the same time as the results came through with a text saying they would call back. Bizarrely it was to my DH despite giving my number but seemed to be from correct number, so we think it must have been linked to her from a test she had a few weeks earlier which he took her to. Why would they not use the most recent number given I dont know? We then heard nothing else until a postal letter on day 5 advising her to isolate and tell contacts! Which of course we had already done informally by then.

For DS we did get a phone call from T&T, but not until a few days later, which was quite brief. She asked about his school and then asked me to fill in an online form for the rest. I told her we hadn't done this for my dd yet and she basically said that would have been passed to someone else now and she couldn't give me a link for her. The form itself was a nightmare and not fit for purpose - it had loads of unclear or contradictory questions and sections for people you knew personally or addresses of places you has been but nothing for organisations eg swimming lessons and beavers which take place on other organisation's premises, or to put phone numbers of leaders of those activities.

I then had a phone call from them again that day to advise me on isolating as I'd just put myself down as a contact. And a text a few days later to confirm when DS isolation ends based on the answers I'd given about symptoms on the form, which was actually different than I thought, but that's another story!

No calls to check either child was isolating after that.
This was at a point of very high cases in our area so talking to other who had it, I think it was largely luck who they contacted and who they didn't and all a bit chaotic!

Cheermonger · 20/11/2021 07:48
