COVID booster and hospital patient

Relative due booster vaccination now and is in hospital(looks like it’s going to be long term) maybe a couple of months, and told by hospital staff that COVID vaccines can’t be given in hospitals? Anyone been in this situation? And are they just suppose to wait until they leave hospital to get it?
Any advise would be appreciated

I did wonder this. I mean it would make sense (to me) to give them a booster while they are in hospital because they'll be out eventually and there'll be a delay in getting one. Or they could say it's too long a gap for it still to be a booster. What then?

Who has said that? It may be worth the relative asking their consultant if they haven’t already. I don’t think that planned in-patient vaccinations are common, but where I work, certainly at the start of the programme, if there were leftovers from the staff vaccines at the end of the day, rather than waste them, they used them for particularly vulnerable patients. Haven’t seen it happen recently but it may be worth asking if that’s a possibility where they are?

My hospital has finished the staff boosters and so no longer has any vaccine on site.

I work for a mental health trust and there are plans afoot to vaccinate eligible patients but not for a couple of weeks which is frustrating.

Each Trust will have their own protocols in place.

First time round we were taking patients all around the county to get the jab via their GP surgeries initially. Took ages before we could get them done on the ward but made life so much easier.

Ask their consultant about booster plans; if there genuinely aren't any then complain to the CCG and ask them to fix the problem.
