NYC travel after having covid - how do I test??

If I’m flying to New York in a week and am just out of covid isolation period, what do I do about a negative test before flying? Everything I read says there can be false positives for up to 90 days after getting covid. GP point blank refuses to give me a letter - they said to speak to Test and Trace (am in Scotland). I can get an employers letter which gives the date I was out of isolation. Is that enough??

Help please Mumsnet - am desperate not to miss this trip!!

Does it have to be a pcr? You shouldn't do them for 90 days, but an LFT should be negative once you've stopped shedding virus. Mine stopped being positive just over a week first testing positive, but husband took 2 weeks.

You only need a lateral flow for the US which will most likely be negative. My DS tested negative on a lateral flow by day 9 of his isolation when he had Covid. I would check now with an NHS lateral flow test.
