Harassment from track and trace

OK that might be a bit OTT but that's how it feels. We had 5 positive test results back last night/this morning and because its my own test and 4 children all tests have my contact details.

I've had 6 call from track and trace. 4 texts and 5 emails. 3 voicemail messages.

The phone calls all came from 8am, I've been really sick all night and was trying to get to some sleep (DP been tagged in at 7 30am) but they're calling and no one is even there when I answer, just my own voice echoing.

Woman rang again and wanted to go through contacts, and said it was take 30 mins for each questionnaire.. . For 5 people.

I said I didn't feel well enough and she said she would call back afternoon. But since then I've had another 2 calls from them.

Kids have been at school and home. That's its. No visits, no school friend visits or family. We've been keeping to ourselves since numbers risen so I've really not got any names to give them, which I said on one call but they said they have to go through the whole questionnaire.

I just want to sleep.

Am I obliged to do this. Can I ignore them? I feel too ill to do it

My husband was identified as a close contact and had 10 calls from them across 3 days. He ignored them all. We live rurally so doubt we will get a visit. He’s double jabbed with zero symptoms it was bordering on harassment.

tsmainsqueeze · 18/11/2021 21:31

@SilverThread

Block their phone number

It works wonders.
If you do answer, you’re not legally obliged to tell them anything.
As long as you are isolating as instructed, and confirm you are isolating, that’s all that’s required.

Block. And ignore

I wondered if you are legally obligated , i was hassled by them when my daughter was positive earlier in the year . The agent told me it was illegal to refuse to give her contacts , i politely stated that i was unaware it was illegal and she went silent until changing tact . I know they are doing a job but after being on the receiving end quite a few times and being given a total mishmash of advice with different end of isolation dates, and a school isolation situation that they didnt know how to answer , should my family have to isolate again we will not be answering or engaging with them. Absolute outrageous waste of money .
PingedPotato · 18/11/2021 21:37

This sounds like an absolute nightmare

Motherdare · 18/11/2021 21:38

I have been amazed by the harassment from this phone number since we all tested positive. I’ve had my phone on silent for days now and just shut off the call whenever I see the number appear. It’s multiple times every day with exactly the same scripted voicemail. I am now also being called by our local test and trace team and today a note was out through the door asking us to please respond to their calls!

It is quite unbelievable harassment.

VsgKitt · 19/11/2021 00:08

Yesterday...

Have blocked them now. Am really poorly and just can't be arsed at all. I've given them all the info twice

I just blocked the number! They rang daily to remind me I need to self isolate, it would be surely classed as harassment if it was a telemarketer making these calls!

RenegadeMasterx · 19/11/2021 01:03

They are an utter nuisance!!!!
I told them they're harassing me, I filled all the forms in online AND answered about 8 of the 29284 phone calls, they left me about 30 voicemails I sh*t you not! Terrible service!

Bunsnbobbins · 19/11/2021 01:17

They did this to me even though I’d supplied all the answers online (following text requests) for all the family at the first opportunity. I was so ill, my phone was on silent so I just missed them all. I didn’t feel bad because I’d already given the info. Considering I was on steroids, antiobiotucs and increased inhalers and struggling to breathe sleep and eat I think it was fair enough but they must have called ten times a day. Had I been aware enough I’d have answered.

Bunsnbobbins · 19/11/2021 01:18

I did read that they get paid per call made. If true that might explain it.

kylie122 · 19/11/2021 01:37

I ignored them
And the police showed up at my door the next day that was a few months ago though might be different for you as am

Heartofglass12345 · 19/11/2021 18:34

@Bunsnbobbins we definitely don't get paid per call, we get paid a salary. I'm in wales though but I can't see that being true, they focus a lot on quality as well as quantity with us and the quality would be shocking if you were getting through as many calls as you could just for the money

Tatapie · 19/11/2021 22:52

It's an utter waste of time. If you're bothered you're going to isolate and inform contacts yourself and if you're not you're not going to tell T&T!
Oh and if you do tell most contacts won't have to isolate anyway due to being jabbed or under 18! Lunacy. Infuriating waste of money. My callers system cut me off twice ( not her fault I know ) & each call back she insisted on repeating the GDPR bit FFS! The third time it happened she didn't dare call back! If the gov are that bothered about "stopping the spread" why don't they make masks compulsory or some other actual proven method? So hacked off with Covid, the government and T&T in case you hadn't guessed!

middleager · 20/11/2021 10:07

FFS!

My neighbour was burgled as she, her husband and 1 year old were in the house. The police did not have the resource to send anybody out.

Geminijust · 20/11/2021 10:33

Oh and if you do tell most contacts won't have to isolate anyway due to being jabbed or under 18!
Exactly! That's why I can't understand why they're still wasting resources on this at this stage!

fedup078 · 20/11/2021 10:39

Wow I didn't think they were still doing this

yetmorewaiting · 20/11/2021 10:55

I blocked their number months ago to avoid being pinged when that app was a thing needed to get into places. Am very pleased I did - over half term whole house had it and I had 40+ answerphone messages over 10-12 days, we'd been at a family event the day before ds1 got a positive lft so I just emailed family to let them know and to let them know we would NOT share their details with T&T. It's put me off testing ever again.

Misspacorabanne · 21/11/2021 08:34

Yes thinking of blocking them too!! It's been every day so far, multiple times!!! I've given them all the information they need, but they are still sending texts to check I'm isolating and leaving voicemails saying to look out for another call from them in the next 24 hours!!! It's a bloody joke!!!! I've not left the house and don't intend too!

MarshaBradyo · 21/11/2021 08:35

We had one call but used a code to fill out a form then that was it.

MarshaBradyo · 21/11/2021 08:37

@Silverswirl

I’ve said it once and I will say it again. Don’t do a PCR Don’t do a PCR!! Lateral flow is positive isolate for 10 days. That’s it.
We didn’t for 11 year old just used LFT

Wasn’t sure if travel at some point would need post PCR pass but that seems mixed for dc anyway

fedup078 · 21/11/2021 08:40

@Silverswirl
I really understand why people are put off getting a pcr and I've felt the same
But, not getting that positive test can have implications on sick leave etc. I've also seen posts from people who have been declined treatment for long Covid because they didn't get an official test result

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/11/2021 08:49

Does anyone know how long T&T hold on to details and whether it’s covered by GDPR?

SpinachIsAGatewayDrug · 21/11/2021 08:53

I didn't do the PCR myself. Just used LF tests every day to check and isolated for 10 days from first day of symptoms.

Fairly low number of contacts prior to that so you I just rang them and told them.

Mainly because I didn't want the hassle from T&T tbh.
