Friend abroad told to isolate by NHS

Hello, my fully vaccinated friend from a green list country flew over to us (England) for a long weekend. On her passenger locator form she gave my UK mobile number (with my permission). Test and Trace sent me a message while she was boarding her plane back home, to say she has been in close contact with someone who has Covid and should isolate. What do we do now? Can I contact them in some way to let them know it's too late?

My friend will do a test when she's back home but regulations in her country mean that if she had been in contact with someone over there, she would not need to isolate. It looks like the NHS says she should isolate because she got her double Pfizer jab from outside the UK.

I wouldn't worry about it. They will probably call you, so just explain. There's nothing they can do about the fact that she's not in the country.

I hope you are right! Thank you.

Sounds like she had contact on the flight and would have had to isolate if she had stayed in the UK. Not much you can do about it now

We had contact on a flight into the UK. Double jabbed so exempt from isolating. Don't worry and move on.

If there is contact on a flight and they have not had vaccinations from the nhs (even though they are the same vaccines abroad) then they are still told to isolate. Luckily your friend has escaped so wont have to do so

Yes I suspect it was contact on her flight to the UK, today would be day 3. Her day 2 antigen test was negative. Hopefully the NHS will call me as I have received several texts for her today asking her to self isolate, and I can't seem to be able to speak to someone about it!

Is 119 not the helpline

Asiama · 15/11/2021 23:06

I thought it was, I was on hold for ages then it beeped 3 times and hung up.

If they are no longer in the UK, T&T will just advise to follow the country they are in guidelines, just explain to T&T when they call (they will) that said person has left the country and not planning on returning.

Managed to get through to 119 and they said she will need to isolate in her country. I said the rules in her country don't require her to isolate and that seems to be the end of it. She will continue to get email reminders about isolation etc but can ignore them.
