Can I use a home PCR test that I ordered a few months ago but didn’t use?

Just as the title says really.

Little one has developed a cough, I’ve got an unopened home test kit from a few months ago that we decided not to use at the time and just isolated instead. Any issues with doing the test with the one we already have to get it done ASAP, or do I need to wait for the new one to arrive?

We used one last week that I ordered in may. I phoned the helpline and they advised as long as it was still ‘in date’ I eventually found a use by date on the cotton swab packet and it was for sometime in 2023. We used and got results back fine. HTH x

Are you testing yourself or your child? You need to make sure the person who is being tested is the same person as the details you gave previously - don’t test someone under the wrong name.

Check the date on it... my DD and her dh used two that they assumed had a long date and they came back as unreadable..they were just out of date, so have had to order two more.
