I have been finding his very moving.

However, it just occurred to me halfway through that no one seems to be wearing a mask. What a shame this isn't being managed better.

After all, we wouldn't want the veterans present to get ill.

And the royal family aren't setting an example either.

Prety awful messaging really.

Meh the armed forces have been working throughout the pandemic. My brother spent 6 months in a huge room with 15 other soldiers in Estonia for most of this year so I don’t think this would have bothered him had he been there. I’m sure the veterans wanted to be there too or they wouldn’t have gone.

To be fair there’s so much virus out there now it’s probably pointless to wear a mask when 95% of those around you aren’t bothering, why should I protect every fecker when they don’t care about protecting me? Maddening when you think many of those at the service are still very high risk regardless of boosters and jabs.

We’ve really dropped the ball on this, I suppose after the tenth or twentieth wave we’ll maybe learn our lesson and realise we have to put in some work and not just rely on jabs…

I bet the old boys love being there, what do you want them to do, sit at home watching it like last year? I bet they all jumped at the chance, pretty sure I would have at that age

Did anybody else notice that Alexandra Burke kept singing a wrong note in Abide With Me?

I do agree about the masks, but I have to say, after last year it was really lovely to see it full again.

I'd put money on it that she's just having an early night to be sure she's on top form for the Cenotaph ceremony in the morning

The UK has only a very limited supply but I'm sure those considered important enough (and I'd hope to see veterans included in that definition) will have access if needed. Definitely politicians and royalty will.

I thought her whole octave was far too high. She has a nice rich voice when she sings lower range but that was a bit high pitched for me!

It's hard to wear a mask to protect others when you go somewhere and no one else is wearing a mask to protect you

It'll be by clinical need - so for the most vulnerable (likely to be the 500,000 most severely immune-suppressed who were eligible for third primary) early in the disease. People living with these conditions are typically under standing instructions anywhere w to contact the hospital at any sign of infection, so fairly straightfprward to get it to them. Possibly also as prophylaxis if there is an outbreak in a care home

I was at the theatre in Scotland last week - everyone wearing masks.
Was strange to be sitting right next to a stranger, and there were no Covid checks at all.

The mask wearing did at least make it feel safer - I appreciate they are not a guarantee against catching the virus - but they must help contain respiratory droplets which would transmit a virus.

I’ve also had Covid recently- I’m double jabbed too. I was so grateful that I had been vaccinated, it was an unpleasant enough flu as it was.
