What do we do? DCs had positive PCRs on Wednesday DH has a positive today. Advice says my other DC and I can go back to school/work on Monday. Is that right enough? I feel quite conflicted.

Yes, you can. However, are you able to WFH? Also, it's worth speaking to the school - covid is ripping through ours at the moment and we're supporting children to stay at home if their parents would prefer that option.

I would recommend doing daily LFTs though - as it can take a few days sometimes (DH tested positive on the Friday, my LFT came up positive on the Tuesday)

Wandamakesporridge · 13/11/2021 11:10

My employer wanted me back in but doing LFTs every morning.
I was conflicted too as felt I should isolate, but that’s the rules!

BluebellsGreenbells · 13/11/2021 11:11

DH work said to work from home for 10 days
Kids went to school.

You don’t have much choice really.

BugsyDrakeTableScape · 13/11/2021 11:24

We had the same, sent DD to school after negative PCR, lateral flows daily. Today she has tested positive on lateral flow so will have spread round school. Thems the rules and the rules suck.

It's worse because I am a teacher so if I do go back to work and then come down with it potentially I've spread it to over a 100 contacts and it's ripping through our area just now. Obviously I wear a mask in class and stay well back but there's no ventilation to speak of and I am going to have to talk directly to my pupils.

Gah!

Plus I have a headache and a heavy feeling in my eyes and nose (iyswim). Can PCR tests be wrong?

When did you take your PCR? I had 2 this week - the one on Monday was negative but the one on Thursday was positive. I also had the heavy/sore eyes, a headache and felt a bit like I had a bad cold. Is might be worth you getting another one first thing tomorrow.

Cantthinkofabettername · 13/11/2021 22:11

Sorry - I had already booked the PCR on Thursday as a precaution as I had cases in my (primary) class and then developed symptoms Thursday evening. LFT was positive on Friday am and then at lunchtime I did another one out of interest and it was negative. PCR came back positive on Friday evening. Hope you are ok.

lovablequalities · 13/11/2021 22:49

I think I am going to wait and see tomorrow. I will take an LFT in the morning and if it's negative ask for a PCR on Monday. People will be absolutely raging if I come in with it. I legitimately have symptoms albeit mild.

Fucking hell. I NEVER take time off work. I even went in when I was having a miscarriage (btw don't do that because it's really awful and unnecessary and I still can't believe I did it.)

I can't believe how upset I am about this COVID crap.

You need to spread out the PCRs because not everyone is likely to get ill at the same time. So book one now. If it’s a postal, you can take it in a day or two or get a drive through tomorrow?

IncessantNameChanger · 13/11/2021 22:52

It depends on your employer, but with many employers it's not a option - you have to go in.

It's all well and good in the ideal world staying home as well but it's not worth getting sacked for

When was your last PCR? Was it before you started having symptoms? I’d do another one tomorrow or Monday. I’m pretty sure if you call school on Monday morning to say you gave symptoms and three covid positive family members in your household, they will be happy for you to stay home whilst waiting for the test results.

Hope you are all ok.

thingamebob · 13/11/2021 23:09

Can you speak to your Headteacher or Deputy? My DS had a positive LFT and we all booked PCRs, he was the only positive PCR. My head was happy for me to go in with negative PCR, daily LFT and no symptoms. Also able to go in while waiting for the PCR result. However you do sound as if you could be developing symptoms so I think you would be best to take advice from Senior Management.
