Hi what are the covid signs in young children. My son is 9 years old but is non verbal so he can't tell me properly what's wrong with him and I am unsure if to test.
He's signing that his hot but his temperature is 36.4 he has a cough but not coughing alot. He gerenal looks ill and is not interested in doing the normal stuff he usually does after school.

Any advice
Thanks
Sal

Among my yr5 class (so similar age) we had:
runny nose;
Slight tickle cough;
Sore throat;
headache;
Sleeping a lot.

I felt hot, but temperature didn’t reflect that, DH shivered for days but his temperature stayed normal too.

Worth noting that tummy problems are also very common in primary age children with Covid.

DSD (9) just felt a bit tired and had a bit of a tummy ache.

He has refused any thing to eat and has gone to sleep. He attends a special school and I don't think there has been any cases in his class since half term so don't now if it could be covid.

Thank you
Sal

Speaking from my own experience I either felt burning hot w COVID or was shivering with ice cold hands and feet but my actual temperature hardly varied from normal at all.

For a ten year old:

Stuffed up nose;
Slight tickle cough;
Sore throat;
headache;
Sleeping a lot.

They did not have a temperature or lose their sense of taste or smell. And I only heard coughing three or four times in ten days.

My DC tested positive and I've no idea...... Might have been the day he had a bit of a tummy ache. Or the day he sat and read books all day on the sofa. Or the evening he fell asleep in the car. Nothing you could put your finger on, he did seem better almost as soon as his test was positive.

My 8 yr old has a runny nose and was sneezing a bit, then got a temp for a couple of days and had sore eyes.
