Covid Positive - Agonising throat pain

I tested positive for Covid a few days ago. The first 48 hrs I had a bit of a sore throat. Suddenly on Saturday, my throat became agonisingly painful. Swallowing feels like I’m swallowing razor blades. If I didn’t know it was covid, I would say it’s laryngitis or tonsillitis. My dry cough has also become productive and feels like I’m ripping my throat out when I cough. Can anyone who had a similar very painful throat with covid tell me how long it lasted? Pain killers, gargling, throat sprays aren’t helping the pain at all.

As a household we all had covid in June. We all has sore throats. My son described his throat pain like yours. Eventually it got better .. maybe a week or so before it started getting better and a few weeks for it to go

Hi OP. I tested positive (PCR) yesterday and my throat was horrific. Never known anything like it. It did pass within two days. Still sore this morning but a lot better. I now have the sinus pain instead which I can deal with a lot better. I found home made honey and lemon and loads of squash to help loads. Honestly it will pass. Oh I also got the throat numbing spray which didn’t touch it either. Rotten isn’t it but it will pass. It kept me awake for a couple of nights but last night I slept a lot better. Oh ice cream helped as well.

Thank you both. I’ll try those suggestions.
