Incubation period- how long in your experience?

I spent a day in a house with someone who subsequently tested positive on a lateral flow the next day, having tested negative on the day I saw him. He had no symptoms at the time, my question is how long would you expect it to take for me to show up a positive test, presuming I caught it that day?
I did a PCR the day after I saw him, which was negative, but I feel like it's a ticking bomb.

Fingers crossed I haven't contracted it, but interested to know what your experiences have been....

We were both exposed to same source on Wednesday, partner was properly ill on Sunday morning and tested positive that day. I tested negative that same day on PCR, but did LFTs twice a day until I tested positive on Thursday morning. Our child, also exposed to same source, has not yet tested positive on two PCRs or 6 LFTs.

Day 5/6 is most common I think, but can be anywhere from 2 to 14 days.

DH met a couple of friends Thursday evening (one of them got a positive lateral flow test the next morning) and tested positive on Saturday morning, so not even 2 days.

2 to up to 14 days - but most commonly 4-6.

Are either or both of you vaccinated?

Sausagesandhoney · 07/11/2021 22:18

Yes both of us double jabbed.... I guess it's just a waiting game .....

Fingers crossed you will continue to be negative @Sausagesandhoney

BurntO · 07/11/2021 23:51

Been here recently and it took 7 days for a positive lateral flow (no symptoms at time)

Nerdygirl · 08/11/2021 13:27

You won’t necessarily get it . I have been round positive people multiple times recently including my own kids plus another family who actually stayed with us and tested positive so you may not get it

IndecentCakes · 08/11/2021 13:29

I had it early on, incubation must have been about a week.

HairyToity · 08/11/2021 13:32

For me - 6 days.

Sausagesandhoney · 08/11/2021 18:48

Yes there seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to who gets it 🤷‍♀️

And with it sometimes being asymptomatic , there will be loads of us who have had it and didn't know

DD was exposed to three people on the same day, different friendship groups. Had one vaccine, she didn't get it.

DH is eight days after contact at work, no symptoms, negative PCR and daily LFTs negative.
