very faint grey lateral line

Hi,

I logged on looking to see if anyone had faint grey line on laterals and noticed a few post.
I've had faint grey lines (only noticeable in certain light/angle, would probably chuck in bin assuming nothing there they are that light) for two weeks now. I've had two PCR and both negative but still the very faint lines on lateral flow.
Are people still having this and negative PCR?
What would still be causing this line, children and OH no faint line. Also when I look at the test after say one hour the line isn't even noticeable.
Do I book another PCR or go off the previous 2 and only book another if I get symptoms or the line is actually faint pink?

So you’re not actually sick then?! Good god woman, get a grip. And a new hobby whilst you’re at it.

New hobby! Bit confused by that commnent!!
I test twice weekly for work and noticed faint the other week, stayed off work until PCR which was negative. Then 2nd lateral for that week with faint line, so booked another PCR which was negative.
Still getting faint grey line so was just seeing if others had found out why but wont ask in future!

If your pcr is neg you're fine. The fact you've had 2 spread our PCRS which you're negative on make me feel doubly confident you've not got covid.

I had a friend who tested positive on LFT but negative on pcr due to a similar viral infection to covid which triggered the LFT but as the pcr are more specific they confirmed it wasn't covid.

From my experience, if you are going to have a positive LFT it comes up RED positive within seconds!!!

If you had a faint line, you should have taken another one there and then?

But if it’s grey, it’s probably nothing. We’ve had a few faint lines but you could see them without squinting and they were pink not grey. (We then had two subsequent negative PCRs so I can only assume faulty tests).

How do you know it was a similar virus?

I had a greyish faint positive lateral flow that came up at about ten minutes. It was visible on a photo but faint. Negative pcr. I was convinced from threads on here and other places that my kids pcr must be wrong but subsequent lateral flows were negative (I was worried they would get darker and stronger second lines but were completely negative) and the cold I had never got any worse (I lateral flow x 2 a week for work but the faint positive was an extra as I had a cold and sore throat but no other symptoms and triple jabbed) my nhs boss said it's not as unusual as reported to get a false positive ltf
If I had got another positive ltf (even if faint) I would have isolated and pcred again though but luckily only had the one .

(The 'kids' is a typo - it was my pcr ! )

Ignore snarky replies, some people get a kick out of being twats.

In the leaflet they say any line, is a line abs there have been a LOT of 'is this a line' threads where I can't even see the line & people have then had positive PCR's

Looking at them after the time they say in the leaflet doesn't help.

Best to read the leaflet and follow the instructions exactly (I've had about 5 different methods/timings on the ones I've had)

Keep doing your LFT & getting a PCR if the LFT is positive.

It's all we can do really.

False information above:
Lateral flow tests look for viral proteins (antigens) specific to SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes Covid-19) and don't give positives for other covid infections.

I had a positive LFT today and it was two dark pink/red lines.

Sorry just seen this reply.

She contacted authorities for help as she didn't know what to do with regards to isolation, and this was the conclusion they came to.
