A test I did last week came back within 24 hours. I posted 11am weds. I had a positive lateral flow on the old style tests so thought I'd better test again.
Or will I get the "it's not been 72 hours"

Don’t ring before 72 hours.

DS’s pcr took 3 full days to come back so I wouldn’t contact them yet. I think I read if you’ve not heard anything after 6 days to call. It’s frustrating waiting I know!

I was told to call if I hadn't heard anything after 5 days. Hmm

Phone them after 72 hours have passed and they can check up on it and give you a result over the phone if it's available. If you phone before 72 hours, they will check your test has been registered but won't do anything else.

You don't need anyone's permission to phone them, just try your luck.

I phoned after 24 hours because I care for a vulnerable relative and waiting endlessly just isn't feasible if I was negative I needed to get back to them. The call handler was happy to look, but while my barcode was in the system there was no result recorded yet.

DS was tested Monday eve got results Thursday eve (last night). 72 hours isn't seeming unusual right now.
