Has anyone else seen the news about the approval of Molnupiravir.

Surely this has to be a game changer now.

Interesting emphasis on this being an experimental drug. It's never been acceptable to describe the vaccines in that way.

It's great news for those who will be eligible to have it (over 60 or with other risk factors) and hopefully for keeping hospital numbers down. Won't help those of us who are too young to be eligible for the boosters either, though.

There is a valid distinction between treatments given to those who are already ill versus preventatives given to those who aren't ill.

Good news than if you catch COVID and qualify.

The link you gave is for Pfizer’s drug, which isn’t approved. This thread started about Merck’s drug which is approved
Not approved - still experimental
Approved - not experimental.

Vaccines that are approved would correctly not be described as experimental.

These two drugs have gotta be game changing surely. Pfizer’s stopped serious illness specifically in the vulnerable, not the healthy. Which is amazing.

Vaccines plus these drugs & I think we really do see the ‘end’ of covid. It’s here to say. Just like flu, people will very sadly die BUT if you can keep the majority out of hospital then that’s that really.

My mum is immunosuppressed & her consultant is excited by these drugs. And her consultant is brilliant, I really value & trust her opinion!

@How2Help Thanks, makes sense now Smile

Sounds like the vast majority should have.nothing to fear from covid if it can get stopped from developing by these antivirals.

But how available will they be? Or are they? It would be awful to know they exist but you can't see a dr or get it Confused
