Travelling to Malta

flowerbomb21 · 04/11/2021 12:12

We want to travel to Malta next summer, as a family all mine are double jabbed.
I had one jab and had an allergic reaction or a bad side affect from it and currently waiting to see a consultant on nhs about it but slowly getting better. I won't be getting the second jab.
Malta do not let people in I'm
Under that impression who aren't double jabbed. Who do I need to ask for a medical exemption from to go please & even if I get one would they let me in ?
Thankyou xx

I am not sure that the exemption you want exists. We went to Malta recently and they were pretty definite about the double jabbed thing. Forms were all viewed at the airport on arrival.

Check with your proposed travel agent (if using one) or on the he Maltese government website.

Was it just one particular brand of the vaccine that you reacted to? Can another brand be used for your second jab!

Of course, things could have changed again by next summer, and we will all have to watch out for that wherever we go and whatever our vaccination status (I am double jabbed and now also winter boostered).

I don't think there's any medical exemption for vaccines for travel currently. There are countries you could visit who would allow you to have a fit to fly pcr instead.

Apparently the Janssen vaccine is single dose.

Moderna, Astra Zeneca and Pfizer (the usual brands) come in a course of two jabs and must be administered as such.

I think you'll have to choose somewhere else for your holidays, I'm afraid.

If you're not fully vaccinated you can't travel to Malta I'm afraid. I go there annually (not last year) and I've been this year. There simply isn't any way that you'll be able to get there without evidence of full vaccination.

Look up COVID pass medical exemption application form.
You have to call 119 for it

I doubt she'll get one until after the consultant appointment at the earliest. And then only if s/he decides that on medical grounds no further jab of any type can safely be given.

OP has already decided that, whatever the advice, she won't be consenting to a further jab. In which case, she'll either have to follow the rules for unvaccinated travellers, or defer travel until after the consultant appt (and even then, there's the chance that exemption will not be endorsed)
