She should test again, right?

DD developed a continuous cough on Sunday, so we booked a PCR test for Monday, which came back negative early hours of Tuesday (yesterday).

Yet now, she's told me she can't smell or taste anything. I'm not sure she even knew this was a symptom. I tested her by giving her a big bag of newly purchased Lebkuchen to sniff, but she says she can't smell a thing, and could only taste one a tiny bit, but didn't eat it all as it 'tasted like nothing' (what a waste! Wink)

She's not bunged up, just coughing and now the no smell or taste. And she has a headache. Because the sense thing has arisen since the negative test, does she test again? Wait a few days? Ignore it and assume she's negative?

She's off school anyway, as the cough is keeping her up at night, so isolation isn't a problem.

We've managed to book another PCR for tomorrow afternoon. She'll be isolating in the meantime.

Both of my parents are currently positive. One was admitted to hospital with severe sickness and tested positive on an LFT whilst preparing to attend hospital, then confirmed with a PCR whilst in hospital. The other has been ill for weeks but testing negative numerous times, only tested positive on an LFT taken after the others diagnosis, then confirmed with a PCR finally yesterday. Both CEV and double vaccinated. We've not seen them for weeks though, and know of noone positive that DC has had contact with recently.

I just wanted to add my recent experience with covid and lateral flow tests. I'm currently on day 10 with covid (symptomatic) and I'm still getting a faint positive on a lateral flow test. My son was also very ill with it and he tested negative by day 8.

The advice may say get a PCR if you have symptoms but you may also get a positive on a lateral flow.

Just clarifying - my son did have covid and had positive PCR and lateral flow at the beginning. We tested him again on a lateral flow on day 8 and that came out negative.

Yesterday's test came back void so we have another booked this afternoon. She's going to kick off, I'm sure, as this one is at the local walkin test place which she hates (has to try to wear a mask even though she's exempt and really can't!) The closest drive in one doesn't have any availability, and the 50 mile round trip we made to the next one yesterday was a very stressful experience.

I'd have just ordered a home one if it wasn't Halloween, and she's hoping to get a negative result back in time to take her friends little sister ToTing for the first time tomorrow night 🤞🤞
