Are people still getting Long Covid?

I have had long covid, 18 months and counting. I am dramatically better than I was but still not 100% with some Chronic Fatigue like symptoms and cardiac issues ongoing. Never had anything like this previously, was very fit, worked FT, young kids etc. Anyway I am mostly better but I have to be very careful with stress and exercise.

I am interested, are people still getting Long Covid? If so is it happening in the unvaccinated or vaccinated or both?

If you have it / think you have it have you been vaccinated or not?

Personally with Covid I was very unwell for 12 weeks (no work, mostly bed bound, in hospital 3 times but not admitted) then I started to improve but have had Chronic fatigue issues and various cardiac issues and several 'relapses' since when I have 'overdone' things (eg walked for 20 mins or driven somewhere). Thankfully I am on a mostly even keel now with the odd relapse thrown in when I mis judge things!

Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time with it. You're not alone. Zoe study estimates around 1000 a day currently developing long covid. That's a lot of people unwell for a long time.

I have just been diagnosed with it, double vaccinated AZ, late 40s, very bad gastric symptoms. On week 6 atm. Sorry you have been ill for so long. I had ME before so some idea of what to expect but never really get gastric symptoms normally and this cant keep any food or drink in me a lot of days.

According to this, vaccination reduces your risk of long covid by 50%. That, coupled with the fact your risk of getting covid in the first place is also reduced when vaccinated, reduces the risk substantially.

Sorry to hear you are still suffering with it.

It would be great news if long covid had gone away, I'm not medical but could that even be possible?

I really really hope 1000 people a day do not end up suffering as I have. I know there are loads (hundreds of thousands) from the first and second wave with it but was hoping the numbers had reduced or at least that the severity of it might be less because of vaccines. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Despite feeling i am recovering it is such an awful, life changing illness. I am double vaxxed and even worry about getting long Covid twice although thankfully haven't seen much evidence (in fact any) of that. @Silkieschickens I am sorry you have been diagnosed with it. Hopefully you will be less severely impacted than I have been.
