Will “group 6” be eligible for a booster? Or is it only CEV?

Dandy008 · 26/10/2021 12:22

I was vaccinated under group 6.

I had my second dose in May so will be coming
up to 6 months.

Will I be eligible for a booster? I haven’t heard anything and people I’ve spoken to IRL seem to think it’s only those over 50 or over 16 if you are CEV.

I have a friend who is early 40s with asthma and he's already had his. In East London.

Aposterhasnoname · 26/10/2021 12:25

My 36 year old group 6 dd has hers booked for tomorrow

BonnesVacances · 26/10/2021 12:28

Yes. Boosters are for groups 1-6 and are being given in the order they were first time around. But no earlier than 6 months from the second jab.

Great stuff! Any idea how she booked? I’m wondering I need to contact Gp or if I just wait to hear.

I'm 6 months next week (group 4) and haven't heard anything yet. I really don't think there is a way to book without being contacted. Of course, the GP surgery refuses to discuss Hmm.

She got a text from her gp inviting her to book.

Is the fourth bullet there not group six?
daisypond · 26/10/2021 12:36

In my area you can just go to a walk-in clinic. No need to wait to be contacted or to book a slot.

Dandy008 · 26/10/2021 12:45

@kimlo

Thanks :)

You cannot use the online booking until 6 months + 1 week from your last dose

firef1y · 26/10/2021 12:56

Well I'm 6months from my last jab, group 6 as a carer, and I can't book because I'm not a health/social care worker. Despite the fact I care for a vulnerable 11yo.

plmnk · 26/10/2021 12:59

I'm mid-thirties, in group 6 and have recently had my third primary dose (n.b. not a booster — I will be eligible for that in six months' time). I was contacted by my hospital by text inviting me to book.
So, by Spring 2022 I will have had four doses in total. Worth contacting your hospital/consultant in case you're eligible for this, I'd say!

Group 6 is the 3rd and 4th categories on that list.
minimecantrollerskate · 26/10/2021 13:05

I was added to the CEV list in the second wave when they were doing the jabs, and will be included in the booster group - bullet point 4 in the photo upthread covers my group.

Mine was May so I am not expecting to be called before November, although Boris did say this week that they should roll them out before the 6 months is up so we shall see.

My DB has already had his - age 43 with asthma and obese.

Vanillaradio · 26/10/2021 14:57

I'm group 6 and I can't work out if I'm entitled either. From what I can work out, my condition (type 1 diabetes) is not currently listed on NHS website if you click on definition of "at high risk of covid" so I am not.Which seems madness to me- as if immunity wanes at 6 months from 2nd vaccine (which I will reach in 3 weeks) then that leaves loads of group 6 who were vaccinated early as thought at higher risk , then less protected over the winter than others their age who have had the vaccine later!

user1471530109 · 26/10/2021 14:59

@Catmummyof2 is there a list of health conditions for the booster then? It's different to the first list of vaccinations?

minimecantrollerskate · 26/10/2021 16:15

assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1018444/Greenbook_chapter_14a_16Sept21.pdf

page 13 onwards confirms the CEV group and illnesses etc. If you are CEV with an illness not listed in the table, then your doctor should add you to the list of people needing boosters. (and confirms what my doctor told me).

Same here.

And 119 says you need a letter from GP.

And GP says don't contact them about your booster.

Unsurprisingly the system isn't fit for purpose.

If you are having issues, please let your MP know. My CEV 13 year old was wrongly coded and missed off the list - ‘healthy’ children locally were being vaccinated and he was still waiting. He was vaccinated 2 days after I contacted my. MP and is now correctly coded.
