How long did it take for your DC to pass on the infection?

Sorry I’m sure this has been asked a zillion times before. DS(17) tested positive on Friday but is currently asymptomatic.

He’s mainly confined to his bedroom but I know there’s still a high likelihood of him passing it on to the rest of us. I think I read that most transmission of delta takes 3-5 days.

I was wondering how that fits with the experience of others? Unless of course you managed to escape altogether.

DH and I are both late 40s, double jabbed with AZ since May & June.

It has varied!

Ds - symtoms started Monday, positive lateral flow same day and PCR result Wednesday morning.

My mum tested positive on a lat flow on Wednesday - 2 days after exposure. She’s still asymptomatic.

Dh had symptoms from Friday - 4 days after exposure. His lat flows were all neg but PCR positive.

My lat flow was positive this morning - 6 days after ds’s symptoms started. I am also asymptomatic.

Other 2 dc are still neg/no symptoms.

My son had been away for a week and tested positive the day he got home, so there hasn't been the opportunity for him to pass it on to us before then.

I got symptoms on day two but tested negative on pcr on day 4, both daughter and I tested positive by pcr on day 7. My other son has only just tested positive on day 16.

@sheeplikessleep I presume from his work. No idea though really. My brother in law was positive two weeks after my sister, and he isolated the whole time she was positive.

Such a strange virus! Wish it would fuck off Sad

Wow 16 days! Do you think he picked it up elsewhere or at home?

My DC tested positive 3 weeks ago but we were caught up in the dodgy lab testing so I think she had actually had it already for 2 weeks at that point. No isolating, as she'd repeatedly tested negative on PCRs. None of us in the house (family of 5) have come down with it.

Dd1 is 11 and was asymptotic, she tested positive and didn't pass it on to the rest of us at all.

We’ve had two kids in school isolating as siblings tested positive . Both only tested positive on day 10 and then had complete another round of isolation 😬

All children only had very minor symptoms, none of the parents caught it off them !

2-3 days. I caught it (40s, double AZ) was laid up in bed.
DH, also 40s double AZ jabbed, didn't catch it, or DS2.

However teen DS2 caught it last year and nobody else in the house did. We weren't vaccinated then.

Both my teens were symptomatic.

4 days for me. We both had a PCR on Sunday, my dd positive, me negative, I had another one on Thursday, Friday it came back positive

bathsh3ba · 25/10/2021 11:26

DD12 started with mild symptoms on Friday, had a negative lateral flow Friday night and Sat morning but a positive lateral flow on Sat evening. Sunday we did a PCR and the result came back positive today.

Just this morning I've woken up with mild symptoms and had a positive lateral flow. My other DD13 no symptoms and negative lateral flow at the minute.
