17 year old daughter turned away for second jab.

My 17 year old daughter had her first jab in August and was invited to have her second jab yesterday. Booked the apt, turned up yesterday and turned away because she’s not 17 and three quarters, told to come back in April 2022. To say we were both gobsmacked is an understatement. Has anyone else experienced this?

For clarity she turned 17 in late July.

The system just wasn’t set up to prevent 16/17yr olds booking the second jab at first. They have improved it now.

@alexashutup my DD16 had her first in mid August and was told to book in for #2 after 3 months. Same for lots of her friends at the time... maybe different Health Trusts had different info

Not quite sure why you are gobsmacked 16-17yr olds were only ever getting 1 dose

@keepmoving

The rules changed after they started the 16+ roll out. DCs told to book for 2nd on Oct now told they are not eligible.
Not the case at all "healthy" 16/17yo who aren't a household contact of someone who is immuno suppressed were only ever having 1 dose, nothing has changed

The national policy in August was for them to only have one, so maybe your local area staff were a bit confused? DD was advised in mid August that she might get an automated invitation to get a second jab but that she should ignore it because they wouldn't be allowed to give it to her.

Yeap, no second jab for 16 and 17 year olds in England atm, unless they are within 3 mths of turning 18. My friends daughter was able to book a second one, but then it was cancelled before the appointment. There has been talk that hopefully they will be offered a second jab soon, but nothing definite yet. It would have made going away at half term a lot simpler for us if DD17 had been double jabbed.
