I don't know if anyone remembers my threads around late aug/sept time?

Pretty ill, ended up in hospital a few times. Symptoms have continued and I got diagnosed with long Covid. Main ongoing symptoms of exhaustion, headaches, shakes, sickness, no taste or smell etc. Thought I was managing it to an extent and have retuned back to work (working from home) on reduced hours and then going back to ft next week and well the last 6h I haven't been able to get out of bed, feel like I've been crushed by a bus, coughing more and extremely sore throat. Done 3 lateral flows and they say negative. My throat is so sore I don't think I can do a PCR just yet as I can barely move. This has floored me, every bone in my body from my toes and fingers hurt and I feel so ill again.

This is exactly how I felt when I first got it and to think I could get as ill as the first time round has me in tears.

The only place I can be getting it is from the children. I WASH (well hubby has been doing it) everything and couldn't be more careful. However, the children (young ages) no matter how much hand washing etc must have picked it up and that's how I've got it again or it's something to do with the long Covid?? I have another long Covid clinic assessment next week although won't be able to attend in person so will try and call and see what they say.

I'm so fking fed up of it.. I just want my life back and not to feel so shit all of the time Sad sorry for the ramble and probably typos

This sounds absolutely awful and I feel for you.
Children can just swab their nostrils on a pcr I'm wondering if that will be as effective for adults too and may be worth a try?
If not, I know you say your throat is very sore but could you try and do it quickly?
I just think the main thing is for you to know for sure whether you have covid again or something else.
If its something else you can seek treatment which you won't be able to do if there's a risk of it being covid.

I do feel for you and hope you feel better soon

AlexaShutUp · 23/10/2021 22:27

It seems rather unlikely that it would be covid again after only 2 months since you got it last time. Wouldn't you still be immune?

I wonder if it could be flu or something instead?

I'm sorry that you're feeing so poorly in any case, and really hope that you feel better soon. Flowers

So sorry you're going through such a tough time. You need to rule out another covid infection but could well be flu or another one of the hideous viruses that are doing the rounds. Keep us updated. It's good to offload. I've received good advice and support on here since testing positive 2 weeks ago. Know it doesn't quite measure up to having been ill for many weeks though

bumblefeline · 23/10/2021 22:39

Hope it's not covid there is a bug going round that causes the worse sore throat ever. We all have just had it.

Get well soon.

HesterShaw1 · 23/10/2021 22:57

Sorry to hear you feel so shit. Isn't it quite likely to be another virus?

Shallwegoforawalk · 23/10/2021 23:02

There's been a horrible flu like virus doing the rounds here that also causes a really bad cough. Isn't it more likely to be something like that rather than covid again so soon?

lisaandalan · 23/10/2021 23:04

Apparently there is a very bad flu like illness going around at the moment, whether you have had the flu jab or not, people are catching it. I know at least 10 people who have had it all negative Covid tests too. X

sofakingcool · 23/10/2021 23:08

There's an awful virus going around, many of us at work have been floored by it. I've not felt well for over 4 weeks now - only way to describe it is the longest heaviest cold ever!! It's even triggered my asthma as I'm now on steroids just to add insult to my injury. Tested negative many times on LFT's and on two PCR's

Worldpeace123 · 23/10/2021 23:13

Could I have this flu and test positive for Covid ntoo?

FancySomeChips · 23/10/2021 23:16

Could be a diff strain of COVID to the one you had first time??or a nasty flu?

BoomChicka · 24/10/2021 13:29

I had covid in July and have the same symptoms as you now, it's 'just' a horrible cold!! I've had the sorest throat and hacking cough all week, it's been awful. But it's not covid again despite how similar it feels.
