What were your child’s Covid symptoms?

8 year old DD complained of a headache after school yesterday. She was also very tired and off her food (very unlike her!).

Quickly progressed to a high temperature and she has been sick twice in the night.

She’s not well enough for a PCR right now and she hates them at the best of times! Will try and do a LFT in the meantime though.

I know there are so many viruses doing the rounds at the moment but wondered what your primary aged children’s symptoms were if they tested positive for Covid?

I’ve had 5 children in my class have COVID so far this term- all girls.
Pupil 1- nothing “ I bounced on mums bed all day and played in the garden”
Pupil 2- slept all day for a week. Still very tired after 2 weeks back in school.
Pupil 3- headaches, sore throat.
Pupil 4- runny nose, sore throat, cough.
Pupil 5- cough, headaches, runny nose, noticeably sweaty.

My teen DS: headaches (nothing could shift it), sore throat, tired, sneezing later.

A total mixture.

Headache then loss of taste and smell. He did have a bad stomach a few days before that though which coyld have been the start of it

DD10 had sore throat on Monday morning and was unusually tired during the day. By the evening she had developed a headache, slight temperature and looked very pale, and LFT was positive. Took her for PCR test Tuesday AM. She's developed a severe headache, especially around her eyes, and a higher temperature since then, and PCR result has just come back as positive.

My kids complained of tummy aches headaches and achy legs. Went on to develop colds but all through their isolation never developed classic symptoms/ no temps, coughs or loss of taste etc so I am very dubious of the pcr 'rules' when it comes to kids. Both showed positive on lateral flows when the achy feeling started though ds was a fainter line than dd who pinged up straight away with two lines on a ltf so they worked well for us though I would get a pcr as well - subsequent pcrs positive.

Thirtyrock39 · 27/10/2021 07:47

Also lost appetites- very unusual for ds

DD 11 - day 1: high temperature, chills, body aches and headache
lasted 1 day
- day 3: back ache and altered taste
lasted 2 days.
- day 4: extreme fatigue (mental/physical) and headache
ongoing (over 2 weeks now)
- day 7: high temperature and 1 episode of diarrhoea

        - extreme fatigue with headache of fluctuating intensity -

My 8 year old currently has it and I feel awful because on Saturday she complained of headache and I gave her calpol. Then Monday after school something made me do a test. Lateral flow showed positive instantly I've since done a few and pcr and all positive. Her symptoms so far have been ; headache, snotty nose, temperature, tummy ache, fatigue, pale skin and red cheeks, dry cough, joint pain, sore hips and off her food. I've just been doing lots of orange juice and bought sugar free vimto along with veggies to help.
