1st dose AZ in June. What should I do about the second dose?

Just as title, really. I had the 1st dose AZ in June. I reacted a bit badly, but recovered after a few days. The vaccine centre closed shortly after and there were no other accessible options nearby - I don't drive and all the options were 30+ miles away. I kept checking, thinking there would be closer options but there never were so I gave up looking.

I'm now thinking I really need to sort this out. When I look on the NHS's website, there's no AZ anywhere near me, even within 40+ miles. There are Pfizer walk-in options - not that near but do-able. But would they give me a dose if I explain about my AZ dose from June? Or given how long has passed since my first dose, should I just start again and get 2 doses of Pfizer? Would they even let me start again?

@GruffaIo Hi op have you tried calling 119 see if they can locate somewhere to give you your 2nd AZ

Go along to the walk in, they may give you Pfizer as a top up, then you will be fully vaccinated. Lots of people have had different vaccines.

My DP had Pfizer as his second dose, around 6 months after having AZ. He didn't want to have AZ again after all the blood clotting stories. They were OK with giving it to him, he did have to talk to a doctor at the walk-in centre. Also before going, he checked to see if they were giving Pfizer/Moderna, and they were. The doctor told him they could give him Pfizer if AZ supply had run out at the centre, which it had. So he's now fully vaccinated, didn't have to 'start again'. :)

Thanks for the replies! @CrunchyCarrot that's particularly reassuring to hear. I'll go along to the walk-in tomorrow (it's 30 miles away but the most accessible!) and hopefully get the jab.

Good luck with the vaccine they seem to be mixing az and pfizer and giving pfizer as booster so this will boost immunity.
Shame you have to travel so far.
